For the last week I have taken your hand and dragged you along for a stroll down memory lane. Together we have recapped my most successful Sunday Mix Tapes. The next new one will be number 200, you know. But that probably won't happen for a while, because I'm flying into Newark airport tomorrow to spend the next two weeks in the New York/New Jersey area. It's true. Rock really was better in the 1970's. You had the stadium fillers like Led Zeppelin and The Who , with bands like Aerosmith and ZZ Top coming up behind them to work the big rooms. Then there were the opening acts that also headlined smaller Civic Centers and theaters like UFO and Nazareth . I overate this weekend. Yesterday I had brunch at a little outdoor cafe on Ocean that made a sublime omelet for breakfast, and had fancy gourmet Mexican food for dinner (grilled achiote chicken served over a layered casserole of corn tortillas, tomatillo salsa, manchego, panela, and cotija cheeses, and coriander radish sprout salad, according to their menu) at the Border Grill, which is owned by two lady chefs who have a show on the Food Channel (apparently).
