Portland, OR's Tu Fawning released their sophomore album, A Monument , today on City Slang. This album marks the first release written and recorded collaboratively as a four-piece. This time out, band leaders Corrina Repp and Joe Haege are joined by Liza Reitz (piano, organ, violin, percussion, vocals) and Toussaint Perrault (synth, trumpet, percussion, vocals). The nine tracks on this new disc are layered and musically dense and show the band heading down a dark path similar to some of the early 80's post-punk, gothic bands (Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Birthday Party). This here new mellow tune from Tu Fawning called "Anchor" has been on repeat since it was sent my way earlier today. Something about those soothing lead female vocals with experimental percussion going on the background has just really done something for me. The song appears on the sophomore album from the band, A Monument, due out May 15th on City Slang Records . Hopefully it's soon to get some repeated plays from you readers as well.
