MY FIRST CASTLE / TUBELORD / LEMMY ASHTON REMIX

MY FIRST CASTLE / TUBELORD / LEMMY ASHTON REMIX Our bestest best friend out of all of our best friends, young Lemmy Ashton has done it again folks. He supplies us with mix after mix of disco loveliness as well as a few bloody good remixes every now and then. Today we're writing about the latter. Some long time fans may remember the straight to cassette remix of Tubelords 'Stacey's Left Arm' that was floating around a year or two ago. Mr Ashton has worked his magic once again on the bands latest single 'My First Castle'. [...]

Video of the Moment #580: Tubelord

Tubelord ≈ My First Castle
Tubelord has released a new video for the song 'My First Castle'. The best way to describe this song? Alternative karaoke video. (I think anyway.) The song will appear on the band's second album, 'r o m a n c e', on the 10th of October on Pink Mist. Luke wrote a nice Bands to Watch piece on the band last summer that you can read here. Click here to view the embedded video.

[Watch] Tubelord - "My First Castle" (Video)

Tubelord ≈ My First Castle
Okay, there is way too much going on in this video. I guess that's a pretty decent tactic to use if you need to get someone to watch your video enough times that you end up liking the song, but Tubelord did not really need to do for "My First Castle". There's all these picture in picture things going on, plus I kept trying to follow along with whatever was scrolling across the bottom. TOO MUCH! Anyway, "My First Castle" is from Tubelord's upcoming sophomore album, R O M A N C [...]

Today's Hotness: Benjamin Shaw, Tubelord, We Were Promised Jetpacks >> Still-not-dead-yet label Audio Antihero will release this fall a second full-length from ethereal and brilliant folk misfit Benjamin Shaw (third if you count the amazing, more experimental and FREE Rumfucker release, which we're never sure if we're supposed to count or not). The collection is titled There's Always Hope, There's Always Cabernet and it will be available from Nov. 21. To remind you that Mr. Shaw is out there, biding his time in a forest north of London, Audio Antihero is issuing ahead of There's Always Hope... [...]

GFP Exclusive… In The Studio with Tubelord!

In the studio with... Tubelord
Ahh the Devonshire countryside; pretty little villages, Cream teas, Dartmoor ponies. Having grown up there I can confirm that it's a wonderful area of the country to spend a holiday or retire (but not a lot else). Bovey Tracey is the epitome of a Devonshire town. Situated on the edge of Dartmoor and only a short drive to the English Riviera, it's a quaint and laid-back old market town. Not the first place you would expect to find everyones favourite Math-Pop'ers Tubelord then. However, it's here that the four-piece are currently shacked up, hard at work on [...]

GFP Feature…It's all about the B-side

GFP Feature…It's all about the B-side Over the past couple of weeks I've found myself, once again, completely addicted to the recent Japandroids single series. What makes each release so great, aside from the heart shattering brilliance of the A-Sides, is the care and attention that has gone into producing the 'whole package'. It made me realise how great singles can still be and also goes some way to explaining why, when sales of every other music format is declining, sales of 73 singles are higher than they've been for years. That's a whole other article for another day though. What my [...]

Die indiestreber ehren die Klassenbesten. Teil 1: Jonas' Jahresrückblick 2010.

Wavves - King Of The Beach

Live Review and Photo's…Tubelord & Tall Ships; The Cavern, Exeter

Live Review and Photo's…Tubelord & Tall Ships; The Cavern, Exeter The 'tour-that-nearly-didn't-happe n-but-then-did' found it's way to the dark and murky surroundings of Exeter Cavern last Tuesday night. The whole tour was nearly cancelled when, just before the start of Tubelord's most-recent UK jaunt, front-man Jo was told he couldn't sing due to damaged vocal chords. Luckily for them - and us - Tangled Hair -ist Alan Welsh jumped on board the tour bus at the last minute to take over singing duties and save the day. Before Alan found himself in the spotlight we had the pleasure of watching one of the UK's most exciting [...]

Tubelord / Tall Ships – The Portland Arms, Cambridge 02/10/2010

Tubelord / Tall Ships – The Portland Arms, Cambridge 02/10/2010 It's a filthy night in Cambridge - wind is howling, rain is battering and the Portland Arms is packed. This is how it should be - get out of the Autumnal weather by witnessing some music and sinking a few ales. Much better than trying to do anything else. That, at least, seems to be the approach of the crowd who have turned up early to witness the locals, in this case the scream-core of Maths . Flirting with the rock genre that bares their name, this quartet are mainly straight-down-the-line thrash. Their set is a sweaty, [...]

Tubelord – Tezcatlipōca

Tubelord – Tezcatlipōca Our First American Friends was a wildly popular record among rock critics despite the fact that it was everything you would have thought a self-respecting rock critic would detest: animated, cheerful and coming across like the wet daydreams of a Michael Cera character. But it was undeniably brilliant in its own idiosyncratic manner. Quite a bit has changed since Tubelord 's first full-length came out last year. The three-piece recorded on the debut is no more, Sean Bamburger becoming the third full-time bassist the group has had to move on. His departure has been supplanted by [...]

Tubelord: Tezcatlipoca EP

Tubelord: Tezcatlipoca EP Words: Gareth O'Malley Bloody hell. We were expecting something good from Tubelord after their sensational debut 'Our First American Friends' impressed us last year, but not anything this good. The band have clearly progressed from their debut album, even while remaining every bit as unpredictable as they've been known to be in the past. These three songs ensure that their second album, (tentatively) titled 'Over In Brooklyn' and due out next year, will be a mouthwatering prospect. 'Arbor' is sure to appeal to those who liked 'Cows To The East, Cities To The [...]

Bands to Watch #191: Tubelord

Words by Luke Morton Having read a review of their debut LP 'Our First American Friends' last year and upon hearing that they're playing in Lincoln next month, I thought it was time to check out London's indie math rockers Tubelord . This is not a move I regret. The happy singalong pop feel mixed with the minimalist synthesised indie noise is something that isn't going to grow old quickly. Sounding fresh each time I press play, Tubelord will undoubtedly be one of the biggest things on the [...]

On August the 7th the band will be curating their own ROTA art exhibition and show at Notting Hill Arts Club. This will also be the launch show of Tezcatlipōca, entry is free for this 4pm-8pm matinee event. Tezcatlipōca will be released on the 16th August through Hassle Records. Off the charts

Off the charts Tubelord - Ratchet Fresh offerings here from Londoners Tubelord . A slight step up from the jabbering bubbly riffed singles from a couple of years ago but still retaining the fantastic vocal melodies, falsetto harmonies and the impressive variety in the dynamics of the song (so nice to see a SoundCloud that isn't just a solid grey bar). And this time they have horns. Horns are always a gamble for me, while they can be delightful in some songs ( Fake Empire , Fistful of Love etc.) they [...]
