Lately, life has seemed like one big Escher painting. Every time I take a step up, it leads down. And vice-versa. Or something. I basically closed off all social and anti-social media for the past few weeks to catch up on work and OMFUG. I am also sorta going back to school. Coursera offers college courses for free. It's part of the MOOC ( aka Massive Open Online Course ) concept, you take the same course as you would at a University, complete with tests and a [...]

Spoiler- the East Coast gets pretty shafted. I mean come on; one date in the tri-state area? Torche, you better be holding out on me right now. Turbonegro have announced a series of US dates leading up to Punk Rock Bowling in Las Vegas, Nevada. Most of the shows include Torche but the Oslo-based band has also booked shows with Dirty Fences , Mout Carmel , The Bronx and Tweak Bird .
It appears that Finland is the most metal country in the world, but Norway is unquestionably the home of black metal, which is pretty metal. Norway is also home to By:Larm Festival , which is occurring on 13-16 February in Oslo. It's a great place for showcasing the finest in fresh Scandinavian talent of all genres, but obviously there's loads of metal there. We'd have made a nifty "Thrash Hits goes to By:Larm" header, but we're not going. However, while you don't need telling to go and see bands like Turbonegro [...]

Photo by James Jardine . Arriving at the amphitheatre for the first time on that warm Friday morning my convoy and I could barely contain the anticipation that had building for weeks. But we had finally made it to the Meredith Music Festival for 2012. As we all scurried about setting up our tents, we made it on time to the opening of the festival by one of our very favourite’s of the year, POND . No stranger to their live show, POND provided their usually blend of psychedelia and rock to a crowd [...]
Your faithful and intrepid protagonists, Van and Andy, once again braved the seasonably-for-Central-Texas warm weather and choking dust of a November weekend in Austin to throw themselves upon the altar built yearly unto the god Fun. Three times is He named, and three days and three nights didst they sacrifice eardrums and livers in His honor. (Well, Van could only sacrifice for two, since he

When it comes to Turbonegro , there are only two types of people in this world - those of us who've been through it and lived to tell the tale, and cowards with no fire in their souls. We shoved Ben Gibson down the front to take photos, and pushed Hugh Platt back into the mosh pit. Six things we learned when we let Turbonegro have their way with us in London: 1) You [...]

Despite Turbonegro releasing their actually-bloody-fantastic comeback album back in June, what with Albums Of The Year lists preying heavily on our minds recently, we've been re-playing the aforementioned Sexual Harassment an awful lot recently. The fact that they've just released a new video for the album's second single is yet another reason for us to give this album another spin and say "this album is far, far better than you thought it was". Seriously, if you haven't given Sexual Harassment a chance yet , you're [...]
Pallbearer may have started around 1 pm, but kept its audience in mourning. The music group moved with the deliberation and anguish of its namesake. Guitarists Brett Campbell and Devin Holt dropped emotional bombs with weight comparable to receiving bereaving news. Campbell?s used an effect to make his voice appear distant like a ghost whispering i... Read More/Discuss on Metal Underground.com
