This comes a little late but on Monday we went over to Rockwood Music Hall for the Tummy Touch Records showcase. It started nice and early and featured a full open bar the whole night. The show consisted of short performances by their artists in rapid succession. Each artist was rather unique from the other so I'm just going to go through them one by one, in order of appearance. The Bandana

A look into Jacques Audiard's 2009 film "A Prophet" including an examination of the film's use of pop music (Nas, Sigur Ros, Turner Cody & Jimmie Dale Gilmore, to be specific).

And here we are again, for just the following 10 of the list. Yes, It takes a lot of time writing these posts, which is the reason why i postpone it, but i need to finish this. So, off we go: 30. Final Fantasy - Plays to please/Spectrum, 14th Century ( Blocks recording club ) Sounds like: Indie, the musical. How vaudeville can you get, is a question that you can ask if you listen to these two teasing [...]

Consider Motel Motel as ambassadors of honky-tonk punk rock soul, swarming the Bell House last night with a vital urgency in the midst of a three-band lineup that included the more traditional leanings of troubadour Turnery Cody and duo Herman Dune . With ample room to prowl, the quintet blazed through a number of standouts from their excellent 2008 album New Denver that showcased their remarkable dynamic range; at times lilting along by a lone pedal-steel guitar, at others pummeled by a three-guitar assault, their songs manage [...]
Imagine a slightly warmer Neil Young, with a bit more wit and playfulness and you might get quite close to what you're about to hear. Really, bloody lovely. And I'm so late reviewing this album, his next one comes out in about a week's time, so there you go. Actually I came across him entirely by [...]

After some protests for not updating undomondo, here's a quick playlist selected from what I've been listening to recently. Electronica artist Odd Nosdam aka David Madson, who recently released a new album called "Level Live Wires" on Anticon . Lovely guitar folk from Turner Cody , experimental electronics meet with ambience & trumpet by Australian Roam the Hello Clouds and an old track reminded me by a friend yesterday by Os Carrascos , featured on Senor Coconut 's 2005 compilation Legendary Latin Club Tunes . More to follow [...]

I'm back from the End of the Road Festival ! The eagle-eyed among you may spot that I've taken my time since the festival actually finished last Sunday, so what kept me? Don't worry, the festival didn't turn into a week-long acid trip. It was just that I extended my sojourn in Dorset for a few days longer. I'm now glad to have returned to the city. I mean, the countryside's a nice place to be, but I sure as heck couldn't live there. For starters although undoubtedly lovely there isn't a lot to do. That's fine for a [...]

Turner Cody - Lashes That Go Wide (Digitalis Industries 2007, recorded 2004) Turner Cody – Buds of May / Digitalis Industries I have never been overtly interested in the folk or singer/songwriter genres, typically opting for more multi-hued or densely layered music. But the fact of the matter is that folk done right can be as multi-dimensional as an experimental big band; it just takes an artist whose lyrical imagery can conjure captivating tales with little more than the help of an acoustic guitar and voice.
