Remember the Anglo-Italian flamboyant indie pop of Turnpike Glow ? We bought you their last video - for 1986 - which talked about the end of a relationship in a snowy Rome and they're now back with two brand new updates for us. The first is their freshly recorded EP Inflatable Optimism due to be released on 11th June 2012. No More Dancing , Marie , 1986 and The Turn, The Pike and The Glow have been chosen for their debut releases which perfectly mirrors their [...]

1986 was a FANTASTIC year. Why? Let me tell you. Prince Andrew married Fergie (a winning couple), the forebearer for staple viewing such as Trisha and Jeremy Kyle, The Oprah Winfrey show first came to our screens and, most importantly, yours truly departed the womb, set on a path of glory. So its no wonder that Turnpike Glow picked this extremely important year for the title of their latest release. But Harrie, isn't the song about the notorious snow fall in rome in that year? No. Sure, it sounds like it, but these guys are originally from Italy, so it's [...]

On June 11th Turnpike Glow release their latest EP, Inflatable Optimism , via Fünke Pop Records - so we decided to get Sandro and Guissepe to write about about being Italians in London. They've also allowed us to premiere the video for 'The Turn, The Pike and The Glow', which you can see below. We moved from Italy to London a few years ago. We were told by a trusted friend that the rent was really cheap here. Needless to say, he's not our friend anymore. When we took [...]

In this edition: Post-Record Store Day Picks from Justin Flythe (Lonnie Walker); Futurebirds and "Feistadon"; considerations from Cow Parade Cow, SexyWaterSpiders, A Thousand Fuegos; and videos from Death Grips, Garbage, The Shins, and Turnpike Glow. Digg UP TAPES RELEASEs Justin Flythe's "Nieces and Nephews" About two years ago, Justin Flythe was diagnosed with Lymphoma. It was a major shock to his friends and family, and made substantial changes in his relatively young life. Most difficult was the decision to leave the band, [...]
Filed under: Video of the Day Artist: Turnpike Glow Video: "1986" Highlight: "We were supposed to shoot the whole video in a theatre," vocalist/guitarist Sandro Schiena tells Spinner. "Then a heavy snowfall hit London the night before the shoot, and because it's a song about a snowfall we had no other choice than to freeze outside for four hours wearing only our shirts. We woke up next day very happy and flu-ridden!" [...]

We met at University in Rome and played the local circuit for a while. One day we uploaded a few tracks on Myspace, got some encouraging feedback from UK promoters and labels and decided to try our luck in London without any connection of sorts. Here we met our drummer Anthony and wrote a lot of new material together. Jeremy and Tom completed the line-up recently and here we are. Listening to: Metronomy, Tom Waits, TV On The Radio Reading: 'The [...]

Turnpike Glow is an Anglo-Italian band that started playing music in Rome. It was 2007 and the lovely chaps of Sandro Schiena (vocals / guitar / keys) and Giuseppe La Mela (vocals / bass / keys) were playing their music in the Italian capital but always looking ahead to more inspiring places. When they started playing live shows in London, Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester, it became clear that England was the place to be. Their line-up was completed on a rainy Sunday when Sandro and Giuseppe met Anthony J. Hutchinson (drums) and Jeremy Levy (guitar) by chance , busking on [...]

Montage Populaire – 'Reject Reinstall' Experimental glam pop from UK. These fellas are new on the block, yet act like they own it - convincingly. This song is boisterous, melodic, and inventive with a jovial, harmonious chorus, noisy breaks that channel the art rock of Roxy Music , and playful synth sounds that are reminiscent of Olivia Tremor Control or of Montreal . 'Reject Reinstall' is the lead track from their debut EP Not All Bombs Explode. Can't wait for this one... [...]

Hunters - Brat Mouth [...]

Turnpike Glow is a Italian rock outfit currently residing in the UK who are prepping for a release in 2012. They self-exiled themselves to work on their music. If you dig that space-rock stylings of Phoenix this should be right your alley. The Turn The Pike And The Glow MP3 Sunny Guy MP3 by Paul Brill from Breezy as follow-up to Harpooner (2006).This guy has been a studio guy for some time working with much rock royalty. A modern [...]
Turnpike Glow started life in Italy but are now UK based, bringing their sunny, quirky Phoenix influenced sound to Britain's rainy shores. Sandro Schiena (vocals / guitar / keys) and Giuseppe La Mela (vocals / bass / keys) started the band in Rome, in a scene marginalised by glossy Italian mainstream pop and insider trading. However, with their Pavement / Phoenix inspired sound, they soon found themselves supporting acts like Cooper Temple Clause, The Futureheads and The Constantines. It wasn't long before Sandro and Giuseppe, the songwriting core of the band, moved to London armed [...]

Happy June ya'll! It's a glorious month for new music. Since it's officially summer, you'll begin hearing singles for all those new albums that are sure to be taking over your stereo for the next few months. Sure, it's fun to anticipate your favorite artists' new releases, but when you find it's time to change up the beat a bit with some fresh, emerging artists, you know where to turn. FRESH MEAT! For this week's Fresh Meat playlist, I've picked a few songs that are good for those moments when you need a break from [...]

Here in the UK, the sun is shining. Spring is in the air and I'm already thinking about the Summer sun!! With that in mind, I felt I should introduce you to Turnpike Glow . Already sounding more radio ready than a lot of the bands clogging the airwaves currently. With roots in Italy, Sandro (Vocals/Guitar) & Guiseppe (Vocals/Bass & Keyboards) decided to decamp to London in 2007 . A chance meeting with Anothony and Ben who were busking on the tube led to the bands current line up. [...]

This week I have mostly been watching: Pat Kenny getting insulted on the telly : Thank God for YouTube, otherwise I would have missed this. Sure he was drunk, but it was good to hear what we've all been thinking. Bush taking advantage of Angie : You can tell that he instantly regrets it though. Wouldn't you? The Communist Manifesto : but illustrated by cartoons. Brilliant. The White House goes Stalinist : and makes an embarassing situation worse. Unicef attacks the Smurfs: but it's all [...]
75orLess Records recently put out a special hand-silkscreened limited edition EP Rush Home , from Italy's Turnpike Glow . Fantastic, but guitar melodies like these deserve a larger audience than the 150-copy release. The hooks are irresistable, and the multilayered melodies won't let you walk away. Turnpike Glow have no small measure of aural charisma. Get the EP , and anticipate the full length soon. Turnpike Glow mp3s: Warranty Dirty Rain
