Rounding off a splendid week with news of a resplendent new record from T.E.E. (Turzi Electronique Experience). As the title suggests, it's a computerized record from Gallic producer Turzi who's last release was of a more psychedelic nature (Never one to get in the way of a good press release); "A true artist, Romain Turzi once again broke free from his own codes. Instead of blinding us with science, he went for the unknown. From disciplinary rock he moved on to revisionary electronics. Turzi's Electronic Experience is set on educating the listener, transmit the [...]

Posted at 1:40pm, 12/10/2010 Turzi's new album, B , came out in September via Record Makers. Primal Scream frontman Bobby Gillespie caught wind of the album, and agreed to lend his vocals to B's track "Baltimore." His distinct vocal style merges perfectly with the driving psychedelic vibes of the song. Download "Baltimore" below. I'm gonna let you into a secret, one of my fantasy's and I hope you'll understand what I'm trying to tell you: I've always wanted to hang out with Bobby Gillespie with a pile of choice records, a player and plenty of wine, talk about rare soul records and continuously loop a seemingly never ending krautrock record. I suppose trumping that is getting him to sing on record, he may not own one of the great voices but there is something about his drawl that I find endearing and cool as sex. Add his vocals to the already cool [...]

Things are simple when it comes to Turzi , the French band named after their frontman Romain Turzi . When a song begins with the letter A , it's from their first album. When it begins with the letter B , it's from the second album. Turzi only name their songs after countries or cities. They are talking about Afghanistan, Brasilia, Beijing, Bombay, Buenos Aires and Bethlehem. For Baltimore they even recruited one of the sexiest male voices on the planet, that of Bobby Gillespie of Primal Scream . [...]

My routing when driving to work during the week consists of listening to Mike and Mike in the morning. Their "East Coast" bias is never too large to get in the way of a good story, but the alternative is listening to a mediocre local show on 87.7 the Ticket . Mike and Mike brought up a point that was interesting in the case of Michael Vick. A lot of people expected Vick to be well rested after spending plenty of time in the clink. Those same people didn't expect the second coming of [...]

Here Turzi and Zombie Zombie make the kind of chaotic outlaw rumble Snake Plissken would jam on his walkman while robbing banks in future 1997 . Having made an album about history ( A ) and another about geography ( B ), Turzi will complete the trilogy next year with album C. It will be about cheese. I really wanted to like Turzi's A , which came out in 2007, but while it had its moments, it didn't stick. Now comes B , which from a few listens sounds like it's one-upped its predecessor. Turzi is Romain Turzi, who hails from Versailles and plays with a band called Four Organ. His music is Jarre-like, combining vintage atmospherics with sophisticated modern synth work, heavily layered and occasionally balearic-tinged. The video for "Brasilia" succeeds in promoting the song: half of it resembles a drunken summer afternoon in Joshua Tree, and it features plenty of those long portrait [...]
Experimental French artist Turzi has announced the details of his sophomore album, "B," due out September 24th through the visionary French label Record Makers. "B" is the follow-up to Turzi's debut album, "A." The emphasis on improvisation that forms the live hallmark of the band was captured on "A" -- continental rock, melded together in frenetic but disciplined fashion with tinges of Ennio Morricone. There are two sides to Turzi- the leader, and his band. Romain Turzi is the leader. Hailing from Versailles, his youth was fueled by experimentation, with hours spent in bedrooms surrounded [...]
Experimental French band, Turzi, has announced the details of their sophomore album, B , due out September 24th through French label, Record Makers . Led by Romain Turzi, his youth was fueled by experimentation with hours spent in bedrooms surrounded by synthesizers and fierce live shows around Paris. In April 2008 Turzi was personally invited to support Simian Mobile Disco and The Whip on an NME endorsed tour around the UK. The best way to describe Turzi is 4 to the floor dance beats with screaming guitar riffs that will get any [...]

For those of you like me who enjoy their electronic music with some bite and free of chill-wave, dark-wave, or whatever wave is being hyped by Pitchfork these days, there's "Bombay," the new track from French experimental artist, Turzi. As its title may imply, there are some serene, meditative movements to be found, but they're buried underneath a relentless rhythm section, pounding out the one, two, three, fours, and similarly rapid-fire guitar riffs. The peace of this "Bombay," is quickly overtaken by that pressure and ferocity, making it apparent that its inspiration comes not only from its geographic setting within [...]

Picture a French Kasabian jamming with a funked-up Muse, whilst a stoned Oasis sit in the corner talking aloud. That's Turzi. This gorgeous orgy of styles starts right at the very beginning, where we hear the heavy strumming of strings meet a shaking baby's rattle, which then bursts open into a smashing rock chorus - complete with rolling bass and tambourine. You can hear the scratching of metal guitar strings so clearly, it's almost like the band have gate crashed your house and commenced band practice in your room. Read more..
