How does a three-man, two-woman band follow-up a smash musical soap opera that produces four Top 10 hits and becomes one of the biggest hits of the decade? If the group is Fleetwood Mac (whose 1977 magnum opus Rumours is one of the 10 best-selling albums of any decade), it goes sort of bat-shit crazy. With "Tusk," the title track and first single from its 1979 follow-up, FM continued its Top 10 streak (which would stop at six, with "Sara," Tusk 's seond single) by pulling out the salad bowl and tossing [...]

The Tusk Wax crew have just notched up their 5th release... This time the little UK label that prides itself on its vinyl only, hand stamped, strictly limited 350 runs are releasing a handful of tracks by Ejeca alongside a remix from Bicep. The package is a brilliant journey through the deep and the old house that will stamp a smile on your face.

Illustration by Celeste Byers [ R&S Records ] Recent entries in the R&S catalog have juxtaposed slick, floor-compatible, bass excursions by artists like Pariah with introspective warm-up fare from James Blake and The Chain. This debut EP from Klaus sits firmly in the latter camp. Besides his remix of Mount Kimbie's "Carbonated," not much is known about the young Londoner, which [...]

CLICK IMAGE TO VIEW VIDEO The video was directed and edited by Sapient himself, fitting in neatly with the song's topic: the hard work of being an independent artist. With images of Sape's life on the road, interacting with fans and driving in vans, plus shots of him with the fam, you get real feeling of what exactly this song is about. "Tusks!" is the initial album in the "Eaters" series, which Sapient likens to Madlib's famed "Beat Konducta" records—a mostly instrumental production showcase—only filtered through his vision [...]

Klaus (Nick Sigsworth) has been quietly building himself a reputation for high quality rich, deep and insightful electronic music over the past couple of years. With beats that flow between ambient and lo fi patterns to a more experimental dubstep influenced style. His tunes that appeared on Soundcloud 6 months ago have finally got some back backbone with R&S once again showing their ability to recognise real talent when they hear it. If this debut EP is anything to go by we are going to be in for some amazing headphone journeys. [...]
Klaus' sound is open, that is to say he makes excellent use of space within his track, something that simply is shied away from nowadays, and that really is the impact of his music. That is to say, the space that he allows to grow then makes the power of his sub hits and synths [...]

Klaus (Nick Sigsworth) has posted his forthcoming EP on Soundcloud for us to dissect. Titled Tusk , the EP comes out next month by the awesome R&S guys, so you know it's gonna be good. It's the sort of music that warrants high volumes, or more importantly, headphones. So stick them on and enter the strange and nightmarish world of Klaus.
R&S debut to come from mysterious producer...
USC SoCal VoCals : Alma Mater/Tusk [ purchase ] This week features a more complicated theme than last week's; therefore, this complicated song also takes a bit of background info to appreciate its full effect. The USC (University of Southern California) SoCal VoCals is a collegiate a cappella group, a genre growing in popularity in the US. A lot of the boom can be attributed to the switch from more sedate (read: dated) songs to pop, rock, hip-hop and other current styles more in sync with the students' [...]
For almost 25 years, John Andrew Fredrick and a revolving cast of characters have been issuing records as the Black Watch. The California-based indie-rock institution is back with 11th album Led Zeppelin Five (Powertool), and it's the first LP to feature the rock-solid lineup of Fredrick, guitarist Steven Schayer (ex-Chills), bassist Chris Rackford and drummer [...]
Blogophilia refers to the series of mixes that were developed from promotional mp3s found on different music blogs. As we've grown, we've come to rely less on other blogs and more on what we're sent that we review or feature. We receive a lot of requests to repost old Blogophilia mixes, and have to kindly refuse because of space issues. Well, that's going to change. This summer, we'll feature 2-3 Blogophilia posts a week until we're current. If you've followed this site, you'll know we already maintain links [...]

A few days ago I mentioned a trifecta of March releases that have become an obsession of late: Generational's Actor-Caster , Starfucker's Reptilians , and A Lull's Confetti . I failed to mention or adequately recognize that this threesome is in the company of equally brilliant hidden gems you should all know about, particularly when it comes to Monogold and their upcoming debut LP The Softest Glow . [MP3] Monogold [...]
