Fingerbanger 1 : Black Tambourine - Dream Baby Dream (don lowed) -- "You are never dedicated to something you have complete confidence in. No one is fanatically shouting that the sun is going to rise tomorrow. They know it's going to rise tomorrow. When people are fanatically dedicated to political or religious faiths or any other kinds of dogmas or goals, [...]
Wouldn't usually post something by the minimal techno goddess that is Magda, but her recent RA podcast really is rather special. Letting things breathe, she uses Ableton to clean up a load of old post-punk/disco/electro classics from Black Devil Disco Club, Lindstrom, Chris and Cosey and ESG into something she simply calls "a fun summer mix." Magda - Resident Advisor Podcast Tracklist: [...]

Tussle - Night of the Hunter This is for the dirtiest dancing. In actual dirt and trash. You should probably be sheathed in scrap metal before dancing to this song. Hang a rusted Honda "H" from your neck. Bring some antique styrofoam cups (from the 70s at the latest). Make a fainting couch out of old toilet seats. Feverishly consult those back issues of Readymade. Can you: build a functional turntable out of used-diaper elastic, paint cans, and thumbtacks? or concoct serviceable ketamine from Claritin leftovers, your own gastric acids, and a little bit of [...]

Photos by: Charlie Homo So, I get it - indie rock/electro duos and trios are multiplying like rabbits dosed up on viagra right now. Sleigh Bells, Matt and Kim, The Bird and the Bee, LA Riots . . . the list goes on. With such a densely populated field you run the gamut from 'total shit' to 'holy shit!' If you wanted to judge two such groups for yourself, the Rickshaw Stop last Thursday was the place to be. My last visit to Rickshaw was about year ago for the [...]

Nordic producer/DJ/father/et al. Prins Thomas (aka. Thomas Moen Hermansen) has finally graced us with his presence and is set to play some killer gigs this weekend. Known for his trademark "cosmic disco" sound, Thomas has been in the music industry for a very long time, and currently owns and manages two labels Full Pupp and Internasjonal . You may know Thomas best for his collaboration with fellow Norwegian producer Hans-Peter Lindstrøm - the two stringing multiple releases on record label Eskimo. Thomas is playing at Sydney's Playground Weekender on Saturday (20th of Feb) [...]

Tunawax is the 2009 intercontinental dryhump champions. But rather than hold it over your heads, we're giving back…Finely picked dance tracks to go cotton to cotton with. I love The Don Armando version of this song, although I don't know if everyone shares my sentiment... especially when I play it out for some drunk baboons. That doesn't stop me from doing it though. I'm also a ready established Tussle liker. Did that last sentence make your english teacher cry? I hope so. I abide by my rules in my land. This song also breaks bones when [...]

You fell from the sky, catching the lost aviators as you hurtled through the cirrus. Sand cushions your fall like the stolen three piece that remains unpaid for to this day. Sleep won't come though even though it's been on request for days. The sun burns like moonlighting vodka, the wind ruffles your hair like that wispy girl who fucks like a corpse. Sand grains slowly give way and you sink down down down. It's coming in your ears, your eyes and you can't rub them awake no matter how hard you try. Falling through you tumble head [...]
Download: Foot Village "T.A.K.E." (from Anti-Magic out in July on Upset The Rhythm) Via Brian Miller from Foot Village, who have rolled out a (very nice!) new website at footvillage.org that is loaded with free MP3s of other bands covering Foot Village that were all mashed together for a track on their album due out later this [...]

Tussle swagger and stumble somewhere in the rafters of haggard and excited clanging about, flirting with the outer fringes of cosmic disco. I myself stumbled upon them somewhere in a web-mist earlier in the week, finding them solid and refreshing; just a step away from the familiar. It's unclear where this eight year old four piece see themselves in terms of style or genre, but their crisis of identity, when it shows itself, is becoming. A new release in the pipeline with Smalltown Supersound may give us some clue as to where alliances really lie, but [...]

[Photos and words by Rez Avissar] A good night for photos, especially now that I've upgraded (i.e. using the office camera). I like how timeless the dudes from RATATAT look. Bluesy, ragged and rocking. Terminal 5 was tight on photo privileges: photo pass required to take photos (not rare, but oh so irritating), and only during the first three songs. Weak. But here's what I could squeeze out of that first three. Tussle sounded tight. A bit more tribal than [...]
