Today's song is "Hello to Loneliness" by TV Buddhas . This single is off the Berlin-based Israeli band's recently released 7-inch on the Staatsakt label, distributed by Rough Trade. With the new single out, TV Buddhas is now prepping its next batch of songs. Over the past four years, the three members of TV Buddhas (Juval Haring, his wife Mickey Triest and her brother Uri Triest) have proven themselves to be one of Europe's most hardworking acts, regularly performing 200-plus shows a year. The band's work ethic is echoed in its music, influenced by early [...]

Berlin-based Israeli trio TV Buddhas are a genuine throwback to the mid-80s days of hard-touring, floor-sleeping punk bands who criss-crossed their way around the world and played in every dank basement or back-room that would have them. The sound of their latest single "Hello To Loneliness" is a dead ringer for the down tuned aggro-churn of the much-missed Wipers and conjures up a similarly rainy and windswept air of River's Edge alienation and frustration that was pioneered by Greg Sage's great band. The two-track 73 was recorded and mixed in a single day, showing [...]

Israeli punk band, TV Buddhas , is based out of Berlin. They cite the Ramones, Modern Lovers, and the Wipers as influences, but lead singer, Juval Haring, is reminiscent of Lemmy. They've just released the 73, Hello Loneliness . The b-side, Just Another Day In My Head , kills! This is a great way to start the morning. Hit play and crank it up with whatever device you're reading this. TV Buddhas – Hello to Loneliness [free download] b/w Just Another [...]

It's hard to dislike the premise: three Israelis, living in Berlin, making Dinosaur Jr.-esque crunch-pop. And Lo!: so it proves to be, indeed, a tasty proposition: TV BUDDAHS possess something near-intangible that elevates their buzzy clatter above all most of the other bands who have decided to wear baggy clothes and let their hair grow out. As usual, we are left pondering, like three decades of puzzled art students before us, whether the medium is the message, or the message the medium. Most bands adopt musical styles out of an [...]

Even though 2010 is over, it's not long gone. So, we feel okay about sneaking in a couple of more Recent Releases We Almost Missed editions containing an eclectic array of tracks from 2010 albums, EPs and many of which were largely overlooked in comparison to the quality of music and overall talent they offer [...] Read more, get songs or stream the entire mix on Indie Rock Cafe

Seems to me there's a nice little music scene bubbling up in the back alleys of Tel Aviv. A few months back we introduced you to the Richard Hellesque stylings of Tel-Aviv natives TV Buddhas , and today we present the positively hyper-maniacal trio, Electra . All bony elbows and jagged guitars, these lads specialize in the sort of breakneck three chord rave ups that fall no more than a skinny tie's length from bands like The Jam or The Buzzcocks. Their newest full-length, Heartbreaks For Fools [...]

Nam June Paik (1932-2006) was a Korean-born American multimedia artist. He apparently holds the particular lofty title of "first video artist" ( Wikipedia ). I recently came across his work and have been in awe of it ever since. TV Buddha (1974) particularly caught my eye; I'd love a copy of the photo. There's straight-ahead rock going on in über-hip Berlin ? Yeah, I was surprised too. TV Buddhas , originally from Tel-Aviv, are on the last leg of their first U.S. tour, bringing with them the remnants of punk and garage rock: distorted guitars, grungy solos, and a badass female drummer. Don't be fooled by the greasy hair and fuzzy guitars; their power trio exteriors hide sophisticated riffs and a penchant for trailing off into sublime noise. I hope we get them back soon. [...]
If you're reading this, chances are you're in New York this weekend. And if you are, CMJ 2010 has already kicked your ass enough that you're now totally fearful of sunlight and/or anything that smells like alcohol. So, really, the opportunity to sit in front of your computer and listen to a mix of the week's best new tracks takes on a new meaning this particular meaning. No longer must you feel left out... or that you have to your apartment for another toxic evening of CMJ. Please enjoy. NEW Singles: [...]

After releasing their EP "We Are Busy Bodies," punk trio TV Buddhas , from Tel Aviv, Israel embarked on their first U.S. tour this fall. The group's raw, intense music brings together the simplicity of The Ramones, the explosiveness of Richard Hell and the anti-rock of The Modern Lovers. The band showcases its talent with the basic elements of minimalistic drums, loose guitars and an anti social edge. TV Buddhas are playing at Strange Matter tonight with Richmond rockers The Two Funerals and Jeff The Brotherhood . TV Buddhas - [...]

Ending the week on the rather freaky date stamp 10/10/10 with a pair of Fanatic Promos. Minor effort with major stimulation, you can always guarantee some quality audio moments. "Up-state NY has terrible winter weather. The Tins are from Binghamton and Buffalo, possibly the snowiest places in the US. They have plenty of time to practice, and know how to plan to get to a show on time". Intricately constructed musical blurbs, genre-less entertainment, you can [...]
Hey everyone! Welcome to Friday, which around here means new music. There are singles, remixes, and covers from your favorite bands, as well as mp3s from some up and comers you just might want to check out. Plus, thanks to Kanye's G.O.O.D. Friday promotion, we have sweet new rhymes to look forward to from now until Christmas. And this week is extra special since it marks the end of our three year anniversary extravaganza. So we figured we might as well go out with a bang, cramming in as much music into this piece as we could possibly [...]
