Tv On The Radio didn't take too long to follow up 20092s brilliant 'Dear Science,' and as usual didn't disappoint. This time the Brooklyn outfit set up camp on the West Coast and the sunnier climate appears to have seeped through to these tracks. With another mild change of direction the tracks on 'Nine Types Of Light' [...]

For those who went into withdrawal without a weekly dose of Walter White (Bryan Cranston), Season 2 of AMC's Breaking Bad returned a year later to take its viewers to all new highs... and devastating lows. While the nerve-racking drama never misses a beat, this season just might make your heart skip one. From the mysterious foreshadowing of what's soon to come to new love, lies, and life - Breaking Bad Season 2 will leave you confused, anxious, restless, and yet itching for more every week. However, there's no denying that the [...]

Its been awhile since I released a Remix Roundup. Yeah, I know blah blah... What if i told you that I have one in the batters box and another on deck... just waiting there patiently, ready to slap you in the face with this waffle here (Baseball reference in 2012- check). BTW, this waffle is made of plastic and it might hurt. Tis Friday folks. Nurd On. For more jams or by any of these artists use the 'tags' links at the bottom of the post! Follow @JoelAlbers on [...]

Perhaps we should start by discussing a few time-honoured cliches, such as " you can't teach an old dog new tricks ", or " if at first you don't succeed ", or " a rose by any other name ", as this quartet from Denmark used to make up half of an older group, Le Fiasko . However, this new reformation has released a set of rather masterful tunes, making their previous incarnation seem something more akin to a prelude to the new, improved outfit. We don't have anything against their previous incarnation, but listen to this new set [...]

Over the past ten years, a recurrent question in my life has been: "What's in the water in Omaha, Nebraska?" While the answer might be rocket fuel, arsenic or pesticides, Icky Blossoms, the newest recruit of the mighty label Saddle Creek Records, shows us yet again that there must be something else- a chemical X of sorts that grants parched tongues beautiful gifts. Comprised of Tilly and the Wall's Derek Pressnall, filmmaker/musician Nik Fackler ( Lovely, Still ) and vocalist Sarah Bohling, Icky Blossoms brings that staple "Omaha sound" a sigh of hazy dream pop ("Perfect [...]

[Photos by acidjack] DONATE TO JONATHAN TOUBIN'S RECOVERY [ HERE ] The beloved New York DJ Jonathan Toubin, proprietor of the New York Night Train & Soul Clap parties, was recently the victim of a bizarre and horrifying accident while he was sleeping in a hotel room in Portland, OR last month. The odds were against that he would be alive beyond that night, but Jonathan has beaten those odds. He is convalescing in a Portland hospital at this moment. He will likely need years of expensive treatments [...]

It has been a while my friends... The holidays and the end of year just kind of flew right by me. I hate when the holidays come to an end. There is the calm after the storm feeling which is always a little depressing. There are also these few weeks where the music industry kind of comes to a slow crawl, and I am not really done digesting 2011 so it is a limbo. Which is exactly where I am at right now. Change is hard... The new year transition can make me cling to the past. Although I am [...]
Suena [...]

New Party Systems is a new supergroup, featuring TV On The Radio's Kyp Malone and two current and former members of Liturgy, and their track "We Are" is an honorable attempt at creating an anthem for the Occupy Wall Street movement. The group doesn't show up in the video. Instead, starry-eyed Occupy sympathizers from around the world lip-sync the lyrics and generally show off the sort of fresh-faced idealistic glow that you only ever see at protests. Watch it below. As previously reported, TV on the Radio's Kyp Malone recently teamed with ex-Liturgy drummer Greg Fox to record Occupy Wall Street-inspired music. As Pitchfork points out, their first collaboration has now hit the web, an anthem titled "We Are" released under the moniker New Party Systems. Dave First, formerly of The Notekillers, composed the track with Malone supplying vocals, Fox on drums, and Liturgy's Bernard Gann on bass. Oneidia drummer Kid Millions was also reportedly involved in the collaboration, but does not appear on the track. An mp3 is available for stream and/or purchase below. Further [...]
Well, 2011. You were quite the year! So much so that I've only been able to recover enough to think about you a full week into 2012. Crazy, huh? New jobs, lots of change, oodles of shenanigans, and yes, lots of good music. So much so, that I undoubtedly missed vast quantities of things that [...]

Another year, another astonishing array of releases to get you through January to December. But where last year had some very clear cut winners across the board (from the likes of Arcade Fire, Kanye West and LCD Soundsystem), this year has not appeared so obvious. But, better late than never, Hotcakes brings you an eclectic list carefully decided by our five writers. Enjoy! 30. Givers - In Light 29. Balam Acab - Wander / Wonder 28. The Black Keys - El Camino 27. Gui Boratti - III [...]

So, this is the sixth 'top songs of 20112 list that you've seen on BGB so far. Not going to lie, a lot of my top picks have already been shown a few times in the other lists and I could probably make a top list just of those repeats. Instead, I'm going to give you an entire new list of songs that I have also loved this year that haven't been mentioned yet. Hope everyone has a happy New Year's Eve tonight. Wherever you are in the world, get crazy!! 11. Kaskade - "Eyes [...]
