Ryan Adams, Jason Isbell: “Love in the First Degree” “At the end of this song, we should both get a free toolbox,” Ryan Adams joked the other night in San Francisco as he and tour opener Jason Isbell’s cover of 1981 Alabama hit “Love in the First Degree” strayed from a faithful rendition into tongue-in-cheek territory toward the coda. Their take does justice to both Adams’ humorous and heartfelt sides quite well, but the biggest highlight for me is simply hearing their voices harmonize after months of watching the pair’s bromance blossom [...]

Last month in Paris a group of talented musicians convened at the Days Off Festival in Paris and played a host of Velvet Underground tracks. As TwentyFourBit points out the band consisted of Colin Greenwood, the HotRats (which is made up of Nigel Godrich and Gaz Coombes and Danny Goffey from Supergrass), Soap&Skin and Air's Nicolas Godin, who all pitched in for the Velvet Underground Revisited show. Taking up position centre stage for vocal duties was Feist who helped perform a great rendition of VU's "Femme Fatale" . Give it a listen below via 24Bit. [...]

After a few years of laying low, Canada's queen indie bee Feist has been very busy the past few weeks. First she announced her forthcoming LP Metals , to be released 4 October, then she premièred a track from that very record and here she is popping her pretty head up again with a beautiful rendition of Velvet Underground classic 'Femme Fatale'. Her take on the 1967 track is a sleeker and smoother affair than the Germanic tones employed by Nico on the original, but backed by Radiohead [...]

Last month, there was a performance in France for Days Off festival that found Colin Greenwood, a dude from Air, and more covering songs from the Velvet Underground. But the biggest coup of the night was Feist covering "Femme Fatale," audio of which which has just gone viral. It's below for you to stream: Feist is unsurprisingly great vamping over the throwback instrumentation and during the "ohh ohh ohhs" at the end. Everything she touches is gold, pretty much. Feist ft. Not only does this song stake its claim as the 'longest title' on The 405, but it might just win 'Cover of the Year' too. Recorded at Days Off Festival in Paris, it sees everyone involved give it their all for a pretty heartfelt rendition of an absolute classic. What a great way to start the day.

Hear her play "Femme Fatale" during a tribute show in Paris. Last month, Radiohead's Colin Greenwood, along with several other artists, put together a show to pay tribute to the Velvet Underground . The concert was in Paris and was aptly named " The Velvet Underground Revisited ." It consisted of a lot of covers of their classic songs from their 1967 album with Nico. One of the covers that night was a pretty faithful rendition of "Femme Fatale" with Feist [...]

Colin Greenwood , do Radiohead , Nicolas Godin , [...]
