Australia's Laneway Festival proves a remedy to those sick of the crowded, aggressive vibe which has crept into a lot of the countries' major festivals. Created in 2004 and held in the slender back streets of Melbourne's CBD, Laneway has spawned into a seven-city journey, stretching as far as Singapore. Yeasayer's Ahmed Gallab has an incredibly colorful back story, one that starts in Sudan before Omar El-Bashir took over and has since made stops in Provo, Boston and Ohio. Though he's contributed to the live performances and tours of bands like Caribou and of Montreal since the age of 19 - currently, he serves as Yeasayer's resident multi-instrumentalist - he has always been Sinkane. Though Sinkane's new record will include contributions from the likes of Twin Shadow's George Lewis and Yeasayer's Ira Wolf and Mary J.
