It's not often that that The Vera Project puts on a show like it did the other night - but when it does, it can't be missed. Accompanied by Seattle's Lemolo, Brooklyn bands Twin Sister and Ava Luna played two of the more captivating and strange sets I've seen in a while. What happened at the show was neither magic nor skill, it was pure intellectual dance pop. Twin Sister has made a name for themselves over the past few years with their sincere and never cheesy [...]

This is the night before Valentine's Day, so no excuses. The lineup Monday night is solid from top to bottom and a true honor to present next week. There's one more that C=T will be doing later this month, so keep posted. Young Pharaohs is the new vehicle that has risen from the ashes of King Mob to create a steamy R&B synth vibe that will have your pelvis moving from side to side to the sound of the beat. Ava Luna is on tour with Twin Sister and both are [...]

TOPS - Turn Your Love Around Sometimes I worry about just how many superb full-lengths pass the average music fan/blogger/critic/whatever by. I hadn't heard of TOPS until today (despite the Pitchfork , No Fear of Pop recommendations) but it turns out in just under two weeks, they'll be bringing out an entire record's worth of Twin Sister -esque soft rock, on February 28th. ' Tender Opposites' would appeal to virtually every Twin Sister fan going, just like 95% of Bon Iver fans would fall head [...]

Twin Sister and Snowmine recently go together to record songs for Weathervane Music's Shaking Through series. For those who might not know, Shaking Through is documentary series that shows the birth of a song by 10 emerging independent artists each year. The series is produced by Weathervane Music and WXPN in Philadelphia. During that experience, each band grew such an admiration for the other that they were compelled to remixed each others songs that were [...]

By Ace Ubas Long Island's Twin Sister had a quite a big year last year. They released their debut album entitled In Heaven to positive reviews, carrying on the momentum that their previous EP's produced. It's easy to say that for the past couple of years, they have been on the rise. But if their popularity across the internet and the numerous sold out shows they play are any indication, they are at the top of their peak and have ...
Happy Friday! To honor the week's end, two of our favorite psychedelic bands have joined forces through Weathervane Music . This wonderful collaboration involves Snowmine and Twin Sister . Each band added their own touch to their singles. Snowmine atmospherically crystalized Twin Sister's "Meet the Frownies", while Twin Sister twirled Snowmine's "Curfews" with a lo-fi disco spin. The Double Remix is a release under Philadelphia's non-profit music organization, Weathervane. They are the same guys who gave us Snowmine's "Curfews" last year. Below is Snowmine's take on Twin Sister but visit Weathervane for both downloads. [...]

As Wild Nothing crafted one of my favorite songs of all time in "Summer Holiday", I was ecstatic when Pitchfork premiered his new single, "Nowhere". Featuring additional vocals from Twin Sister's Andrea Estella, we finally get to hear a WN track without all the fuzz. While I'm not sure if I love that change yet, the song is still very easygoing, and gives off those beach desired vibes that I want so bad right now. The single will be out February 21st on Captured tracks , along with new song "Wait". AFter that, we can [...]

Wild Nothing will release a new 7" through Captured Tracks on February 21st. The 7" is a prelude to the band's new album that is expected later this year. Although Wild Nothing was previously a home recorded project, the "Nowhere" 7" was recorded in a studio with live instrumentation and vocals from Twin Sister's Andrea Estella. Wild Nothing's Jack Tatum has graduated out of the bedroom and into a real recording studio. Our first taste of the new Wild Nothing sound came this morning with "Nowhere," featuring the sedated vocals of Twin Sister's Andrea Estella. Tatum's ace guitar work is just as jangly as we remember and his pop songcraft just as immediate, but we can't seem to shake the feeling that we're listening to a new Pains of Being Pure at Heart track.
