THIS WEEK'S BEST BET: Wizard Smoke (Final Show) w/ The Liverhearts, Vincas Friday, May 17 529 - 529 Flat Shoals Avenue in Atlanta 3031616 Admission $8 In light of last week's tragic death of one of the Atlanta metal scene's biggest supporters in Steve Barrentine, it seems almost trivial to mourn the loss of Wizard Smoke . On the one hand you have a life cut far too short and a massively devastating human toll that will reverberate far outside the daily grind of Atlanta [...]

The Zoo Incident are an indie pop band based in Tucson, AZ. The first time I heard them, I was immediately struck by their catchy guitar hooks and solid-yet-sweetly-sung vocals. On closer examination, it was easy to see that everything from the instrumental arrangements to their lyrics were as thoughtful as any band that had been together and known each other for years. I was able to catch up with the founding members (Alex and Andrea) to find out how they started and ask them what the inspiration was behind their new LP, Lovely [...]

A Quick Word from the Author: February seems to be living up to expectations, despite how high the bar has been set so far this year. The music is just too good. This week is a compilation of the past two weeks, it's a bit lengthier, and fairly grand. The Tryptophan, specifically, is fairly impressive. Also, if any of you are planning on recording one of these nonsensical "Harlem Shake" videos, don't. It's annoying and frankly, you're not going [...]
