Last summer, our friends at Gorilla vs. Bear jumped into the music festival business with their inaugural Gorilla vs. Bear Festival , held in Dallas’ Granada Theater. Featuring the likes of White Denim, Shabazz Palaces, Grimes and other buzzworthy luminaries, the show was a hit, and they’ve returned to the scene of the crime for GvsB II, which descended upon the Granada this Saturday. Forgive me for going back to the well once again, but it's just so easy to spread the joy I receive from personal favorites, Spanish Prisoners. I do so once again because just this week, Prior Art , their limited cassette-only release was unleashed for music consumers with retro tendencies, i.e. those who still own cassette players. Featuring assorted reworks of their own originals, the band too reworks tracks from the likes of Clams Casino and Twin Sister. Sun Glitters and Rimar lend their talents to touching up "Know No Violence" and "Rich Blood" respectively as well. [...]

I first was introduced to the wonderful Snowmine back when I was with my friends at Paper Garden last summer, and I was instantly hooked on their sound. Now the Brooklyn band have a new single out called “Saucer Eyes” which is completely expansive, yet manages to be quite intimate as well.  The riff before the choruses is made for the screaming crowds in Texas watching their Dillon Panthers. The track also manages to be as dreamy as can be, perfectly encapsulating all the moods you will hit on a mysterious drunken unknown. Obviously, after midnight [...]
