As a UC Davis alumnus, I'm always proud to promote the vibrant underground music scene in Davis, CA. Run primarily by the local college radio station KDVS 90.3FM , the city lights up every week with house shows by bands playing diverse versions of strange, noisy, alt-everything. Often very few of the students present have even heard the band — but it's still worth it to go to the show, grab a 40 oz of Miller Lite and join the ear-splitting, sweaty, living room mosh pit and then waltz outside and have a [...]
'Serial Parade' is a deconstruction of music from the '50s and '60s, then reassembled with the parts attaching in the wrong places and snapping to fit. Read more »

Twin Steps are an Oakland, CA band that mix samples with surf guitars and yelping harmonies. Pulling samples from various artists such as Etta James, The Supremes, Connie Francis, and Frankie Valli, Twin Steps songs have an infectious, nostalgic vibe that will hook you instantly. The band recently released their EP Serial Parade on April 10th, but now they've debuted an unreleased single, "Son of Sam" that features classic horn samples from Eddie Bo's "From This Day On". Of course, Twin Steps have done something completely different with it than just using it as a [...]

Stream the full album below and [...]
Twin Steps - Pinkie Promise Check out "Pinkie Promise," a doo wop laced experimental pop track that is extremely infectious and sometimes a little frenetic. Its more of a surreal, almost schizophrenic soundscape set to a 602s doo-wop style. The track comes from their upcoming EP, Serial Parade out April 10th on Cola Bruin.
