Psych rocker Ty Segall recently announced the formation of the Ty Segall Band and their plans to release an LP titled Slaughterhouse this coming June. The 11-track album will see Segall teaming up with Mikal Cronin, Charlie Moothart, and Emily Rose Epstein, and now, the first taste of their creative efforts can be heard. The first single from the forthcoming album is titled "Wave Goodbye," and simply put it's a cacophony of pyschedic sounds. It's amazing to me that more outlets haven't posted with incredulity about the combined output Ty Segall and White Fence have planned for 2012. Between the two of them, five full-length albums will be released across a time period of less than twelve months. Five albums. It would be reasonable to think that such ambitious plans might result in undercooked albums, but the first effort in this series, White Fence's Family Perfume Vol. 1 , proved to be just as interesting as his previously released albums given the benefit of a more typical album release cycle. San Franciscan psych (Ty Segall) meets LA psych (Tim Presley, aka White Fence) for a classy garage-psych album. There are no introspective tales about buying sofas with your girlfriend as on Ty's last waxing; this time their collective love of 60s and 70s music blasts forth, with Segall's pop notes complemented by Presley's grungier approach.
