Siri has been criticized for many things, including taking a stand against abortion , not being understood in Scotland , and even landing on a Flaming Lips track . Heck, with the iPhone 4s being the hottest item on the market and talks about Siri coming on board the highly anticipated iPad 3, Siri remains an important feature of the iPhone, particularly while multitasking. It's quite understandable that Siri befuddles herself on occation, afterall, our leading artificial intelligence is not prone to being mistake free. We've got a long way to go, and I'm sure [...]

Sasquatch! Music Festival 2012 Lineup Announcement from Sasquatch Festival on Vimeo . Sasquatch Festival in Washington at the Gorge will be held on Memorial Day Weekend this year. Packed with electronica, indie, chillwave, and some hip hop it looks like it will be a stellar holiday weekend. The more I look at line up the more clear it becomes; this was a thought out and well put together festival. I hope more festivals follow in the footstep of Sasquatch! [...]
Tycho, who is out out of San Francisco, are currently on tour in promotion for the project Dive that you can purchase here . Scott Hansen put together this band Tycho and brought along another great electronica band, Beacon , who were a great surprise to see open up having never heard them before. The type of music Tycho is putting out there is completely directed at a niche market. It's people who may like the sound of electronic music, but don't want their face melted or their ears to bleed from overused [...]

Photo by Raoul Ortega Tycho FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 3rd Scott Hansen is an artist with a vision. Before he debuted on the music scene as electronic composer Tycho , Hansen was known by his graphic design pseudonym, ISO50. As ISO50, Hansen produces intricate, often illusionary water color pieces—images that make an appealing first impression and grow more complex when scrutinized. His songs sound about the same. Hansen's 2002 EP, Science Of Patterns, and the 2004 album Sunrise Projector hinted at his musical ideas, but it wasn't until his 2011 [...]

As the days breeze by us here, the dark, wintery nights make for the best sleep. What better to compliment your nightly voyage to dreamland than these sweet and concise 32.5 minutes of sleep music , indie style? This list was purely based around our #1 track from 2011 which you can check out here if you haven't visited our Top 100 yet. Enjoy a good night's sleep with this list. We recommend playing these tracks in the order you see them. MP3: Lissie - Everywhere I Go [...]

Tycho - Hours ( buy ) Cool and serene like a sunrise and moving water. A pitch-shifted melody obscures its dance-time rhythm, but "Hours" is still reassuring enough to use as your morning alarm. Tycho plays Music Hall this week.
We know you lost sleep over the course of last month, waiting patiently, racking your brain to see what we could possibly list as our favorite albums of 2011. We lost sleep too, compulsively checking our lists twice and perhaps after a fist fight or two, we settled on 25 firm choices. After all, who listens to as much music as us? Who actually has time to listen to put together a valid top 25 list with no filler? We're fairly certain that most other sites don't include at least a handful of the albums listed on none other [...]

Visuals are a big part of the Tycho live show and I'm often asked how they were created and presented in a live setting. The answer is VDMX, a modular video performance platform. For those of you familiar with video editing / effecting, you could think of it as a stripped down, real-time version of After Effects where every parameter is controllable via various protocols (MIDI, OSC) and even by other parameters. It can mix multiple sources using blending modes like multiply and color burn all while utilizing Quartz Composer effects. [...]
Just another week of live music in New York City, which means lots of options for the concert-going public, including Smith Westerns, American Babies, Tycho, and Skrillex....

Ethereal - extremely delicate and light in a way that seems too perfect for this world. Press play on Ryan Radlers latest mix tape and that's exactly how the music will make you feel, immediately. The effect is no coincidence and if you're hip to the anti-summer/anti-winter concepts then you know that's what these tapes are all about... At the end of the day I think the mixes are really about how to navigate each season. Personally, winter has been killing me and this mix is literally some catharsis to cope with the stuff that comes. Cold, depression, [...]

Hoe gaat get ladies and gents! Pucho here! This is my first post since my move to the Netherlands and might I add that I am particular excited about this one. I had the unique opportunity yesterday to speak with Scott Hansen of Tycho, a talented aural architect and San Francisco-based graphic designer who is signed to the likes of Ghostly International, a label of worldwide acclaim whose artist pool reads like a roll of honor. The music Tycho makes is the kind of stuff dreams are made of. From nostalgic Boards of [...]

{/caption] So I'm on the road for the first leg of the US Tycho tour and it's been pretty intense; haven't had a chance to post here in a while. Jakub is along tour managing and things have been going well. We've seen a lot of really beautiful landscapes along the way; so far we've driven from Chicago, up through Toronto and Montreal, and all the way from Buffalo down to Orlando where I'm currently holed up in a Travelodge taking a much needed night off from playing. We play Orlando tomorrow night, then on to Tampa and Miami, [...]

Editor's Note Happy New Year! Some of you are probably wondering what happened to us. Well work, family, and of course organizing our little (not so little anymore) variety show Snob Theater has taken quite a bit of time away from the website. We've had probably the best year so far and I'm happy to announce my favorite records of 2011 to launch the reboot of Kata Rokkar. I don't review albums at all but i do listen to a shitload and it's been a great and surprising year for new music. [...]

One of my favorite albums of last year is Tycho's "Dive" LP, best listened to at sunset or sunrise (or really any part of the day for that matter). The album is just chalked full of washed out electronic yumminess. However, I never really considered what this album would sound like live, or if it even could be pulled off live with REAL INSTRUMENTS. Well, here ya go.
