Dass die 80er nicht tozukriegen sind, habe ich ja schon öfter hier im Blog konstatiert – falls es noch eines weiteren Beweises bedarf, bitte schön: hier kommen Uber Glitterati , ein Duo aus Belfast. Schon ihr Motto „Party like it's 1989" macht klar, wohin die Reise geht – in Synthie-geschwängerte Überpopgefilde. Solche Musik wird heutzutage gar nicht mehr geschrieben, möchte man ausrufen, wäre es nicht so offensichtlich unsinnig. Die Vergleiche mit Saint Etienne und Dubstar, die sich Uber Glitterati ob dieses Sounds zuzieht sind nicht ganz von der Hand zu weisen. Link zur [...]

Armour - Uber Glitterati You miss the 80s? So do Uber Glitterati . But unlike you, where nostalgia only generates an impulse to watch re-runs of Alf, they're actually doing something productive. "Armour" would sound perfectly at home on an OMD record, with all the gentle pop sensibility that implies. They've really captured the sensation of gently undulating synths which hold aloft vocals that hint at silky smoothness but offer just enough ethereal movement to keep you guessing. Check out a bunch more tracks from Soundcloud .

State will be on hand to preview each show and to provide an introduction to the performers. Proceedings get underway tomorrow night in Belfast with an impressive seven act line-up at The Limelight & Katy Daly's before the show heads south to Dublin on Friday for the first of three visits to Crawdaddy . Here's a taster of [...]
Lending further proof to the opinion that the Irish music scene is healthier than ever, the call for entries for this year's IMRO Showcase Tour triggered literally hundreds upon hundreds of responses. The line-up has now been selected and the following is a list of the bands who've made the cut and where they can be seen in action: Thursday, March 25th - The Limelight & Katy Daly's, Belfast Alan MX Strait Laces Nakatomi Towers The Good Fight [...]

Uber Glitterati are a two-piece electropop act from Belfast. Their influences include OMD, Royksopp and MSTRKRFT and they are regularly compared with Dubstar, Saint Etienne, Eurythmics, Kate Bush and The Cocteau Twins. When they're not recording their own stuff, they're busy making a name for themselves as Belfast's go-to duo for remixes, remixing recent singles 'God Says' by Escape Act and 'Seconds Out' by Strait Laces, for those singles. Sounding a bit dramatic and a bit chilled, Uber Glitterati are a frigidly cool duo that take elements of trip hop, mix it up [...]

Looking at pictures of future cities is always a good time, and when you've got electronic soundtrack its even better. These are some tracks that have landed in my inbox, and while they don't have as heavy of a beat as some of the stuff I've been listening to lately they're still pretty good. I've written about Dr. Hollywood before , and I think they'll probably have some great stuff coming up. This week marks the first time I've heard of Belfast Synth pop duo Uber Glitterati , and I think they'll stay on [...]
