Last week, we were honored to bring you the first video in a new series called The Emery Sessions . The video featured Daniel Martin Moore and Joan Shelley and I had plenty of people tell me it gave them chills. Well, we are ready this week with the next installment in the series, and if you got chills for the first one, I'm wondering what kind of response you will get from this video because it is simply awesome. Over The Rhine, the legendary Cincinnati duo are captured in the parlour of [...]

I'm not sure I should admit to where I first heard The Musgraves. I will, but for your enjoyment, not mine. Ok, I confess, it was when they played on the Graham Norton show. This is kind of embarrassing for two reasons. Firstly, I was watching the Graham Norton Show, and secondly, it wasn't through trawling the internet, a press email or a gig. Which in itself is quite an interesting point, should we take pride in where we hear, or how we find out about music? I'm sure it's not just me that thinks finding out about a band [...]

Billed as "where Gogol Bordello meets Muse," for some unforeseen reason I still gave Diego's Umbrella the benefit of the doubt. Hearing their latest tracks "Downtown" and "Richardson," which you too can hear over at Deli Radio , they're not as hate-worthy as they made themselves out to be! In fact, I kind of like it. Yes, there's a bit of Middle Eastern flava' and a few chimes I could do without, but overall, upbeat, catchy stuff. Certainly not the next Muse, but in my music library, that's a great thing. Diego's Umbrella have [...]
Follow Diego's Umbrella on Twitter and support their music . Background: When the Metropolitan Jolt was offered the opportunity to talk to Diego's Umbrella at Outside Lands, I immediately volunteered to conduct the interview. I had first discovered them a month prior to the festival and I'd been bumping their gypsy rock anthem "Lasers 'n Lesbians" virtually non-stop. On top of that, I'd recently come across their Twitter, which included such gems as "The ghost of Fred Sanford plays flute for Erykah Badu" and "WANTED: Daytime nanny, must resemble Burt [...]

San Francisco's own uniformed gypsy progressive pirate rock band, Diego's Umbrella , has already had their brush with success with three unique and feisty albums, a sizable fan base, and their music inserted into numerous films and TV programs. However, you've probably not experienced the band live yet have you? Well now is probably the best time to do so considering the band will be bring their wacked out version of gypsy rock to this year's Outside Lands Festival. Diego's Umbrella have the theatrics of a headlining act and the attitude of a [...]

Since, the band's lineup has solidified behind Olson, featuring Kyle Forester, Julia Rydholm, [...]
![ROSI GOLAN AND THE TREE OF UMBRELLAS [BUZZSESSION]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3600046_lg.jpg)
For the past year and a half I lived in Manhattan – in the East Village to be exact. I loved everything about the city. Everything except how insanely small my apartment was. As of a month ago, however, I'm a Brooklynite and live adjacent to Williamsburg's McCarren Park. As you'll notice in the coming weeks, I've been spending loads of time in my new neighborhood park filming with some very talented artists. My first Buzzsession as a Brooklyn-native took place a couple weeks ago with singer-songwriter Rosi Golan . [...]

Today is a favorite sort of days. Earlier, I was awakened by the sound of a torrential rain storm. The rain came straight down and pounded the deck and umbrellas. That was the sound I heard: rain hitting the umbrellas, almost as good as rain on a tin roof. The rain stopped quickly giving me enough time to run for the papers. In a bit after that, it started again but far more gently. The day is dark, and I have turned on a light. Sitting in my house surrounded by rain with a single light brightening the room gives [...]

All the umbrellas in London - The Magnetic Fields I think the songs that appear here in the coming days will all be from that stack of records i picked up on the weekend as i work through them. I've never owned a Magnetic Fields record before. I've never been able to. I'm not sure the albums were ever released on vinyl. I don't know why. From recently acquired experience, it sounds so right to listen to them this way, although that may be [...]
Mechanical Bride - 25-year-old British singer/songwriter Lauren Doss delivers her first full-length... inventive, cinematic songs that confidently expand the stark canvas of her earlier EP's with colorful swaths of instrumental arrangements, some bold, some subdued // Release : Living With Ants (June 6, Transgressive/U.K.) // Quote : "I wanted to find the beauty and colour from dark places that exist inside and outside of ourselves, the title 'Living With Ants' means learning to co-exist alongside niggling issues and worries that we maybe create for ourselves." // Sounds like : [...]
Pink Umbrella, originally uploaded by Southcoasting.More pictures from San Juan. The combination of wealth and dereliction in one small neighbourhood was quite impressive, as ever. America is always a land of extremes, and no more so than here.

Who say Rihanna ain' a Jungaliss? The 2011 NBA All-Star game came to an end last night with The West taking the win and Kobe Bryant earning his fourth MVP trophy. For halftime entertainment, Rihanna took to the stage for a medley of her hits. RiRi kicked things off with an orchestral version of her 4-year-old hit, "Umbrella." She then moved into "Only Girl" before winin' and grinin' to "Rude Boy." Once again, the flamin' redhead brought out Drake for "What's My Name." This time around, the interaction [...]
