"Don't Give Up" is the latest offering from American rock-singer/songwriter/produce r Kevin Rudolf. Released April 17th, "Don't Give Up" was written by Rudolf and serves as the first single off his upcoming third album, due out this summer via Cash Money/Universal Republic Records. If I'm being honest, I wasn't even sure Kevin Rudolf was still around, at least not as a solo act. The

Heroin, it's my wife and it's my life - Lou Reed, Heroin Although seldom referenced, the United States seems to have a prevalent drug undercurrent running through its societal veins. Through music, our real, unabridged opinions of drugs are manifested and shine through. Of course there are many different opinions voicing a different stance on just about every stimulant. Through countless hours of recorded music over the past 50 or so years, I am able to infer a couple things: As a society, we LOVE marijuana . Smoke [...]
Taylor Swift covers Eminem for Detroit.

Word to Socialite Life for posting this one. Taylor Swift recently swung through Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she performed at the Van Andel Arena. And as is customary with the blonde pop-country chirpstress on her Speak Now 2011 tour , she sat down with her guitar and paid homage to local artists. Her songs of choice on this particular night: fellow Grammy winner Eminem's 2002 8 Mile jam "Lose Yourself" and Uncle Kracker's 2009 hit "Smile." Marvel at Tay's rapping, and repeated utterance of "yo," below.
Most people assume that using drugs you've found lying on a city sidewalk is a perfectly reasonable and safe thing to do. Thus, they're often surprised when I tell them a story which reveals that perhaps, in some rare cases, found drugs are better left alone. It was the summer of 2003, the war in Iraq had just been won, Gary Coleman was running for governor and Uncle Kracker was beginning to Drift Away (so sad). In the few years prior, I had developed an angst-fueled obsession with Radiohead and was excited when they announced two [...]

Acoustic Christmas 2009, presented by Nashville's 107.5 the River, took place at the War Memorial Auditorium on Saturday, and what a jolly old time it was! From what I heard, nobody paid for a ticket to this show. They were all station contest winners. What an awesome holiday gift for the dedicated listeners! The lineup: Elliott Yamin, Iyaz, Ke$ha, Uncle Kracker, Sean Kingston, Owl City, Boys Like Girls, and The Fray. Photo Credit: Lazyday.com Elliott Yamin started out the night right, and was [...]

I just got a press release that Kid Rock's boyfriend, Uncle Kracker, has a new album coming out in the fall. To which I can only say: shouldn't this douche bag be getting raped in prison right about now? That's not a judgement on Kracker's music. I mean, his music sucks, don't get me wrong. I'm [...]

If you haven't heard already, Ashton Kutcher has become the first person on Twitter to have more than one MILLION followers. That's pretty impressive. He was in a race with CNN to see who would first reach that milestone. The race was quite heated at the end, but at around 11pm on April 16, Kutcher was victorious. "It's a changing of the guard. The old way, the new way," he stated during the contest. I guess his whole point was to show how [...]
We've gotta hand it to 2008, so far so good. Since January, we've come across some fairly amazing albums , and with new releases from Deerhoof, Of Montreal, The Cure and many others on the horizon ( and not even mentioning the Walkmen's amazing new You & Me , kinda sorta unofficially released last week), the rest of the year seems just as strong, right? Well, not so fast. While browsing through a few upcoming release calendars, we've come across our fair share of land mines lurking in the cabbage patch. Buyer beware! [...]

The new issue of the New Yorker has a really interesting article entitled "The Gerbil's Revenge" about the latest radio phenomenon: Auto-Tune. (You can read the article in full here .) Briefly, Auto-Tune is a software that corrects pitch. Before 1998, the software, developed by Antares Audio Technologies, had been quietly used to make slight tweeks to artists vocals to perfect a track. Only after Cher's hit Believe , which shamelessly employed Auto-Tune, was the cat out of the bag. Recently Auto-Tune has become a widely used trick of the trade for [...]
Today is February 29 and I won't be allowed to say it for another 4 years and considering many blogs die after that period of time, this may be my one and only chance to do a leap year playlist! This playlist was REALLY hard to think of. I didn't have any tracks that included "leap" and that makes me sad lol. 1. Drift Away by Uncle Kracker (only title in my library with "drift" as our calendar would drift off if there were no 2. I Stand Corrected by Vampire Weekend [...]
