Live Report: Autopsy w/ Funebrarum, Unearthly Trance, Undergang

Live Report: Autopsy w/ Funebrarum, Unearthly Trance, Undergang . . . Editor's Note: Today's double-shot of live Autopsy coverage is meant to celebrate these very rare Autopsy shows, which culminate at Maryland Deathfest today. . . . AUTOPSY w/ Funebrarum, Unearthly Trance, Undergang The Bell House, Brooklyn Friday, May 4th There's trouble in the air tonight. Maybe it's just Friday, the cliff over the yawning weekend that allows harried Average Vargs to dive into a void lacking in obligation. Maybe it's the coming supermoon, a combination of the full moon and the earth's perigee [...]

Autopsy played Bell House with Funebrarum, Unearthly Trance & Undergang (pics, video & setlist); UT add a show

Autopsy played Bell House with Funebrarum, Unearthly Trance & Undergang (pics, video & setlist); UT add a show photos by Dana (distortion) Yavin , words by BBG May 15th, 1993. That was the last time that death metal legends Autopsy played NYC (at The Tilt with Incantation and Vital Remains), so Friday's appearance at the Bell House (5/4) was a long-time coming. The show was one of a pair of dates for the band, who continued on to play Reggie's in Chicago with Cianide the next evening before [...]

IO Ticket Giveaway: Autopsy with Funebrarum, Unearthly Trance and Undergang

IO Ticket Giveaway: Autopsy with Funebrarum, Unearthly Trance and Undergang Warning: It is going to be loud, dirty, running late into the night and filled with sweaty dudes - and I'm not just talking about riding the G train, which may be the line you will take if you are heading to The Bell House in Brooklyn this Friday, May 4, for the epic death metal experience that will be the Autopsy, Funebrarum, Unearthly Trance and Undergang show. And if you're in NYC, you kind of have to be there. Autopsy hasn't played New York in 19 years, and it's not unreasonable to assume it will be a good long [...]

SO DID UNEARTHLY TRANCE BREAK UP, OR JUST GIVE UP ON TOURING?

Sorry to harsh your afternoon mellow, but reader Andrew Jordan just noticed the following post on Unearthly Trance's Facebook page: That sounds pretty definitive in terms of the band doing any future shows. But does it mean that Unearthly Trance are done, or just done playing gigs? The band just released a new album, V, [...]

UNEARTHLY TRANCE SURVIVE JAPAN AND DECIDE TO BOW OUT ON TOP

Unearthly Trance recently survived the horrors of Japan's national crisis. Luckily no one on their tour with High On Fire and the Melvins was hurt, and the band made it home safe. Unfortunately, Unearthly Trance recently announced through Facebook that they have decided to cease being a band. Obviously, I'm not thrilled. But it appears that the band decided that they had accomplished all that

Doomriders, Unearthly Trance & Sweet Cobra played Union Pool (pics & video)

Doomriders, Unearthly Trance & Sweet Cobra played Union Pool (pics & video) photos by Jonathan McPhail , words by BBG Sweet Cobra had a helluva welcome at their very first NYC appearance on February 12th. A few short moments after the Chicago band took the Union Pool stage, the show sold out. It helped that they were the first band on a serious bill that included the heavyweight left-right punches of Thin-Lizzy-worshipping skate-punks Doomriders & dark-doom-lords Unearthly Trance . The room [...]

THE BODY ADD MORE 2011 TOUR DATES

Providence's heaviest duo, The Body, are continuing to tour at a pace that doesn't quite sync with their slowed out, throwed out tempos. While some of these dates were reported earlier, they've filled out gaps in Chicago, Pittsburgh, Phoenix, Denver, and more. They'll also play SXSW, Scion Rock Fest, and Dallas' Bro Fest. The tour ends with a show at the The Acheron in Brooklyn with Whitehorse

THE BODY GOIN' HARD ON TOUR

Well, you're in luck - they're on tour! The Body are making their way through the Southeast right now, finishing up later in the month in Baltimore and NYC. In March, they'll do some SXSW shows in Austin (holla at ya boy!) and

CRUSTCAKE REVIEWS: UNEARTHLY TRANCE/THE ENDLESS BLOCKADE SPLIT

by Andrew Wilhelm (TX)Unearthly Trance mania continues here on Crustcake, only this time it's not Sean watching their every move. At this point, I'm expecting to see him and Ryan Lipynsky on Page Six. The Brooklyn trio recently released a split with our favorite recently-deceased power-noise-violence unit The Endless Blockade. Both bands are known for their use of noise music, but they don't

CRUSTCAKE INTERVIEWS: UNEARTHLY TRANCE'S RYAN LIPYNSKY - PART 2

by theseseans (NYC)In the second part of our interview with Ryan Lipynsky (Part 1 found here), we explore his other bands. There is a large difference between the Howling Wind and Thralldom, but both band's are usually labeled "black metal." So how does Lipynsky define black metal? Read on to find out. Another of his bands, Pollution, is like some sort of serial-killer garage rock band, and

by theseseans (NYC)I sat down with Unearthly Trance' Ryan Lipynsky (above, center) just before the Brooklyn doom trio's new album, V, came out. Lipynsky and I covered so much ground that we at crustcake have decided to break up the interview into two parts. The first part -- presented after the jump -- covers the work on V. Part two will be published next week and deals primarily with his current
