I am not sure if it's the red pants or the bright USE sign on the back wall that make me see this as the money shot of the day... but Laura Musselman caught this photo of this weekend's U.S.E. show at the Crocodile that oozes so much goodtime sparkle that it actually makes me excited for Monday. Imaginary Victoria also covered the show and we should have a full on photo essay of this weekend's USE show soon soon soon! Want to see more of what's going on around town in Seattle's clubs (or what [...]

Exaltation comes in many forms. The latest one for me is once again seeing the word Crocodile associated with live Seattle music. It champions the somewhat lesser excitement around U.S.E. (short for United State Of Electronica ) and their upcoming release L O V E W O R L D , but only because the Croc has been a longtime favorite spot to see great bands. The two will meet - two being the Crocodile and U.S.E. - on March 28. That means clear tomorrow's schedule. As a bonus [...]
It's never just dancing, or brightly colored spandex, or even packets of Smarties being thrown into the audience like sugary missiles. read more

United State Of Electronica is the best party band ever. People in the know (especially in Seattle) jam-pack their shows and throw a happy love party. But even if it's a poorly-publicized Sunday night show with 15 people in the audience, they still rock it like it was that humongo stadium in Rio. I don't know why they aren't the most popular band on the planet, but they could be and should be. Go see them. Throw money and kisses. United State Of Electronica - Emerald City from [...]

In honor of "Labor" day, here is a mix I made back in the fall of '05. The Duchess and I were talking a Lamaze class. Our teacher encourage us to make a mix of soothing music for the delivery. The Duchess wondered why we couldn't have a mix of up tempo songs. Songs to keep the energy up. To keep the breathing rhythmic. To keep her in a good mood. Instead of moody, slow songs that would only annoy her. So I made this batch of rocking songs. Of course, Duke Jr. was a [...]

A dedicated Late Greats reader wondered if I had a wake up mix to go with my day ending mix. As luck with have it, I do. I like to put parameters on my mixes; otherwise it's just too difficult compiling a CD's worth of music. Like the mix of album ending tracks, these are all songs that start albums, track number one (see the parallel?). This mix starts are slow and builds (rather quickly) in order to get you up, dressed, out the door, and headed to Starbucks so you can make it to work on time. [...]
