Unnatural Helpers are a giant spoonful of Seattle rocker stew. The end result of the heavy gravitational pull of like-minded musicians mixing and co-mingling with each other through the local scene. How the Helpers came to be as a static entity is a little bewildering... . They are centered by drummer/singer Dean Whitmore who has been in one band incarnation after the next looking for the right chemistry. He has drummed with the likes of Welcome, Mars Accelerator and The Intelligence from which he has teased out bits and pieces as a stockpile [...]

Unnatural Helpers ::: Photo by Josh The news today is that local label Hardly Art has has signed local noise rockers Unnatural Helpers to their roster. Kimberly Morrison of Hardly Art band The Dutchess and the Duke plays bass in this band. Most of their frenetic song-thoughts clock-in at under two minutes.

I must admit I had not heard of the Unnatural Helpers before Sub Pop put out their latest 7" Dirty, Dumb & Comical . After a little digging, I found out that the Helpers are made up of Dean and Mike of Double Fudge plus a variety of cats from the Seattle underground. Presently listed on the myspace are Chris (of Kinski ?) and Kimberly (of Dutchess & the Duke ?). They perform short garage rock dittys. The current 7" is part of Sub Pop Records [...]
