And so yet another split-up band feature on FT. Again, I feel they deserved much more recognition than they got and hope that, with this post, I can at least enlighten a few people to the greatness of 'The Upper Room'. A pop-rock band from Brighton, they made melancholic music with lyrics that recalled Morrissey and music that vaguely resembled a softer Joy Divison (or even Smiths, again). Huh, was soll denn das? Ich las gerade auf Myspace, dass sich die britische Gitarrenpophoffnung The Upper Room einfach so auf Grund bandinterner Differenzen getrennt hat...! Dabei ist ihr Song «Combination» für mich eines der besten Lieder 2006... :-( Immerhin machen die Bandmitglieder in verschiedenen Konfigurationen weiter - u.a. als The Dirty Social Disorder (die sind aber kein Vergleich mit T.U.R., sondern langweiliger Rock).
