And it seems we've got another Russian entry onto the site thanks to Upstation courtesy of their great reworking of London's Zoot Woman who is not a woman at all, but rather the British electronic band made up of Adam Blake, Stuart Price and Johnny Blake. So Upstation is a Moscow based group that sent me some of their stuff. While many of their tracks came off as a little bit too cheesy for my tastes, a few of them really hit the spot. "Get It On" is unbelievably danceable and though "She Won't Forget You Boy" is still saccharine sweet, sometimes you need a little bit of that in your ears. Our fine Russian friends of Upstation are back with some new material. Once again it's beautiful disco pop with influences as well from the 80s but also from the 90s. The Eighties are alive and well in Russia. Moscow new wave/disco trio Upstation have released an EP with five retro tracks, with lots of echo and wall-to-wall pre-programmed synths, walking bass lines and guitar licks straight out of the Simple Minds song book.
