Cheap Time - Other Stories 7" Cheap Time recaptured their fury on this year's rather unfortunately named Wallpaper Music . The album was anything but the filler and background that title suggests and it jumped the band right back into their exploration of 70's punk wail. They follow the album up nicely with a single on their old stomping grounds of Sweet Rot and its a double shot of jolt and clobber that could easily pass for outtakes from the record. Snotty and rotten just like we like [...]
Reid from Jovontaes dropped off their new record at CD Central the other day (only place selling it in the world until October 11!), which made me realize I wasn't sure exactly what was on it. I always hear random Jovontaes songs either from WRFL, at work or looking for them online, but I wasn't [...]

das dritte album der band wurde in nur zwei tagen aufgenommen, der qualität wird das nicht geschadet haben, da bin ich sicher, "let the poison out" erscheint auf hardly art am 24. oktober: the beets - doing as i do spannender name, spannender typ, ist in seattle ein kleines indiesternchen und bringt mit "drawn onward" sein neues album "with stripped down banjo songs, reinterpretations of appalachian folk tales, snaps, foot stomps, drum machine barber shop numbers, and even a hazed out shoegaze song in the form of [...]

With more happening than we can cover or have fun with, let us tally up a handful of the week's pop highlights in no particular order. Parentz brought the surprise hit of t...
Kentucky’s not necessarily the place your mind goes when the term Krautrock is thrown around but lurking in Louisville’s vibrant skate/garage community there’s a strong undercurrent of the German Progressive movement alive and kicking in the form of Jovontaes. Recorded mostly at Small’s Void Skateshop in Lexington, their debut brings whiffs of Guru Guru, Ash Ra Tempel and NEU! to the air but with a decidedly meditative core; chugging down rhythm like cheap PBR one minute and nebulous as ash on the wind the next. The band’s debut is set to come out on October 11th from Woodsist sister [...]
