CLOUDLESS May24th + 25th at Seattle's Comet Tavern. Here's everything you need to know!
Kyle Hargus and Jason Baxter are from Seattle and until recently went by the name "Universal Studios Florida." I can only assume that copyright concerns caused them to shorten it to USF, though maybe they just wanted to make their moniker more Google searchable. Whatever the reason, fans of the duo's earlier releases—especially 2009's lo-fi jungle-pop Ocean Sunbirds cassette—need not worry; their name change has, if anything, signaled a tightening of their sound. Tribal drums, your childhood's memory of electronic music, and stoned loops still abound on their latest release, The Spray, which first came out back in [...]

The boys of psych-pop duo USF have reason to celebrate this season, with two releases in the running for KEXP's year-end best-of poll, a new collaboration receiving critical praise, and several recent performances under their belts. Nearly a year after its release in January, their Jamaica Plain EP, rife with danceable beats, humming synths and swooping string loops, drew crowds to The Comet and The Neptune over the past month. A newly released track that saw USF team up with former Deli Band of the Month, Witch Gardens , has also been attracting attention. "I'm Not Dead, [...]
Who knew that all we had to do was party? - Humans Who knew? Probably everyone who has already made plans to head to the Comet on Saturday night, when local party heavyweights Don't Talk To The Cops are grand marshaling the good times parade with support from Vancouver's Humans and local talents Sports and USF. USF - Point Break II I'd rather be ashes than dust. I would rather that my spark burn out in a brilliant blaze, than be stilled by dry rot. I would rather be a superb meteor than a sleepy and permanent planet. The proper function is to live, not to exist. - Evel Knievel , quoting Jack London [beginning issue #1] Penned by Seattle's Jason Baxter [of USF ] & Mac Hamilton with artwork produced by New York's [...]

Seattle's USF (Universal Studios Florida) released a texturally striking pop album yesterday, on Portland's Circle Into Square, completely based on and titled after a Jonathan Lethem short story, "The Spray". The story is about a young couple who get robbed, The police come to help them file the report and the couple can't figure out exactly what was stolen. The police use a spray, apparently a new invention, that shows the invisible objects that were taken as glowing, salm...

Prior info on the new record here . East Mercer micro-venue/vintage boutique/workshop/ mixtape purveyor Cairo is now in the record label business. Check out their new online store for Golden Fjord , as well as other great local albums such as Lunar from Secret Colors , USF's Jamaica Plain EP , Flexions' Leisure Time LP, and Stephanie's self-titled EP for GGNZLA . Premieres: Radical Dads – "New Age Dinosaurs" - The star of this video claims to want a girl who likes him for what's on the outside, so therefore, he puts up the most ridiculous exterior possible. Series: No Cover Episode 7 – "Hey Joe" - David sets up their first audition…but there's a catch. That catch is David's loyalty to Joe, a former client who has what some call a "drinking problem." USF (formerly Universal Studios Florida) is an electronic duo that began in the fall of 2008. Band members Kyle Hargus & Jason Baxter released their eponymous debut EP in January 2009, &... **Summary** Go to website for downloads, videos & more.

I don't write too many album reviews any more (life!), but that don't mean I haven't been listening to some cool shit so far in 2011. If you, like me, are wondering just where in the hell this year has gone, then maybe you can take solace in the fact that the glass is half empty. There's still 6 months to go! THUSLY, here are some albums that you should at least slightly consider listening to, based on my esteemed, well-worn historical opinions. Kinda organized in descending fashion, and, no, I didn't think the list would [...]

USF is writing a variation of that white boy r&b on a fluttering electro-tapestry with "Close Your Eyes", one out of their recent double-drop of singles. "Close Your Eyes" is the lead-off track for their upcoming LP The Spray (out October 25 on Circle Into Square) and the other, "Forever Wading", is a digital single that Death Bomb Arc released last week. USF, "Close Your Eyes" USF, "Forever Wading" "Close Your Eyes" also appears...

USF — Forever Wading Just in time to usher in the summer, the duo formerly known as Universal Studios Florida have emerged from their Seattle hideaway to bring us a killer double-header for the Deathbomb Digital Singles Club . A-side "Forever Wading" is a joyous ode to the warm weather months, rolling through thickets of tribal drumwork and pitch-skewed vocals before reaching a colossal, laser-show-worthy finale. [ mpe ]

Jason and Kyle of USF sent us these answers to our questions in this next installment of the q and also a series. q: What is the last song you (really) heard? j: "Phaedra" by Gun Outfit . It's so damn beautiful. Streamable: Phaedra by Gun Outfit k: The last song on the new Wild Beasts album. The whole thing is great, but that track leaves the best aftertaste. [...]
