According to my iTunes play count, I have listened to Usher ’s “ Climax ” 69 times since it dropped last February (Usher! Ushuh! Ushah! Yeah!). While the apparent coincidence seems too good to be true, I do not for one second doubt the cosmic powers of the sexiest track of all time to telekinetically calibrate every iTunes in the world to that exact statistic. This technological quirk could quite possibly have inspired experimental indie giants The Dirty Projectors to team up with Australian radio station Triple J and perform a cover of “Climax,” a rendition [...]

Dirty Projectors took to Triple J's Like A Version series and took on Usher's "Climax" as their cover. The band actually make it into their own quite well. Watch/listen:

So this is pretty awesome. The Dirty Projectors recently went on the Australia's Triple J radio and covered Usher's excellent, "Climax" for the station's well-named  "Like A Version" segment . The Diplo -produced original is one of our our favorite songs by Usher , and Dirty Projectors' signature harmonies gives the song new life. It also makes us want to listen to  "Get Free,"  the Amber Coffman featuring single from Major Lazer's forthcoming  Free The Universe , which is out February 19. [...]

Australian radio station Triple J constantly brings us quality covers from their 'Like a Version' segment. This week The Dirty Projectors are down under and stopped by the station for a session. Their chosen cover was one of our favourite tracks of last year; Usher's Diplo-produced hit "Climax." The promise of hearing the Projectors' wonderful harmonies on this sumptuous track is enough to make a music fan salivate - and they certainly don't disappoint. Check it out below.

While January has effectively lived up to its London billing as a month as drab musically as it is meteorologically, they're having a topsy-turvy time of it down under if recent triple j   Like A Version sessions are anything to go by. Maybe initially this is an "um, what?" moment, but The Dirty Projectors  actually offer a dutiful homage to the R&B powerhouse Usher on Australia's Triple J show "Like a Version". Some common threads: Usher and The Dirty Projectors both in some form worked with Diplo, who produced Usher's hit 2012 single "Climax" also worked with Amber Coffman on the Major Lazer song "Get Free". Despite David Longstreth's uphill struggle with Usher's high register, Dirty Projectors ' cover of Diplo and Usher's 2012 hit, 'Climax', is pretty enjoyable. Backed by the OP-1 synthesizer, Amber Coffman really is the highlight on this cover. [via Potholes ]

Dirty Projectors covered arguably the best song of 2012 during a recent visit to Australia's Trip le J Radio . The performance of Usher's "Climax" was a part of their Like a Version series where they ask a visiting artist to cover a song of thier choice. Siempre he tenido la duda del por qué Dirty Projectors no me gusta tanto en sus discos de principio a fin, pero por otro lado creo que es el tipo de banda que funciona mucho mejor en su formato en vivo que en el estudio. When Usher isn't whining, he's great. Like on one of 20122s best tracks , the Diplo-produced " Climax ". Unfortunately, we don't get too many songs like that from Mr. Raymond anymore, so we'll just have to find solace in "Climax" and, you know, this fucking stellar cover by Dirty Projectors . I could go on and on about how they do the song justice and then some, but you should just hit play below and enjoy.

Dirty Projectors stopped by triple j tv for the "Like a Version" series and took on a surprising cover: "Climax" by Usher. An indie rock band taking on "Climax" seems like an unlikely choice, but if they haven't already proven it, this vocal flex makes it pretty clear that Dirty Projectors can do pretty much whatever the fuck they want.

Apart from those few Folk blogs you follow, can you think of many sites and blogs who didn't have Usher 's stunning "Climax" on their year-end list of the best songs of 2012? Nor can I, we certainly did, we know what's up. Populating the other big year-end list of albums was Dirty Projectors 's latest masterpiece Swing Lo Magellan , so it's quite appropriate that when the band were on tour down under they visited Triple J's radio station [...]
