Mark this down on your calendar, folks - July 14, 2012 at Downsview Park! I am still in awe with the stellar line-up of the 17 confirmed acts. Edgefest '12 has a little something for everyone...definitely a must-see festival of 2012. Rocking the main stage will be Billy Talent , Death From Above 1979 , Silversun Pickups , The Sheepdogs , Young The Giant , The Dirty Heads , USS and The Pack A.D. . This past year has been a whirlwind for The Sheepdogs - having just [...]

Telescopes, smoothies, handstands, piggy backs, and crowd surfing. These are just a few of the things that I had the chance to perceive with my two eyes yet again. How can I even begin to describe what happened at this concert. Well there really is no way of justifying a USS show with words. It's something that needs to be fully experienced to enjoy. I mean sure you can listen to their albums, watch their videos on YouTube, but you'll never truly understand the full joy and exhilaration of this uproarious band until you've gone and seen [...]

It wasn't too long ago that I first heard this song and fell in love with it instantly, and it wasn't until a few days or so ago that Mavericks was finally put up on iTunes for the public to fully enjoy. This is some of the first new Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker I've heard in a while and it looks like this is only a fraction of the epic tunes that are in store for fans of the duo. I don't even know how to properly describe this song in the least, only that it is an adrenaline surge so [...]

On September 11th (whoa! nine years already!?) I went to see four bands at Ottawa U. Went to see: Radio Radio Whale Tooth Hotshotcasino USS I was more excited to see Radio [...]
The USS Monitor was a Navy warship which fought during the American Civil War. It sank and was lost at sea within a year of its launch. Two centuries later and something about this inaugural iron clad is suddenly resonating with songwriters. In 2006, Brooklyn indie kids Bishop Allen composed an ode to the vessel, remarking upon how tough life must have been upon that ship on the day that it was destroyed, in comparison to the average day of the rock musician. Now, as if reinventing the art of one-upmanship, Titus Andronicus have recorded [...]

Milton, Ontario, Hardball Cafe; never did I once ever think that two of my favorite bands would ever be playing this small city let alone the same venue. After rescheduling the show after minor technicalities involving bookings and what not, Wednesday February 3rd I finally got my interview with USS. While I didn't get to interview Ash that night, Human Kebab was more than happy to answer my questions. A- Where did the name Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker come from? Whose idea was it? HK- It was Ash's idea, it was his [...]

ARTIST: USS Rising with free mp3 download for 'Anti-Venom' from Questamation by Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker. DATE: 02-04-10 WRITER: Bill Adams It's difficult to imagine that there might be anyone on Earth more genuinely happy with where he's at in life than Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker (aka USS) singer/guitarist Ash Buchholz. While he and turntablist/hypeman Jason Parsons may have started making noise under the name Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker in 2007, the notice [view more]

Obviously having nothing better to do on a Wednesday night, I sojourned off-campus to the Ale House, an 800-capacity bar and live venue in downtown Kingston. Shortly after I arrived, Toronto funk-reggae rock act Rebel Emergency opened up. While not my taste per se, they definitely warmed up the crowd. The highlight was a very competent cover of Kings of Leon's "Fans". Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker combines a more conventionally singer/songwriter (with amplified acoustic guitar) with a hype-man in charge of beats and blips and such, as well as pumping up the crowd. Curiosity mounted as [...]

A hot Saturday in September was the inaugural Sonic Boom festival in Edmonton. And I have to tell you, it was totally worth having to put up with the usual "first timer" kinks to go check it out. After figuring out where the hell the VIP entrance was, I hunkered down on a spot of wet grass with a piece of shitty pizza and waited for the face-melting rock to start. But it just didn't have the sweet, sweet view I assumed there was going to be, so as The Wet Secrets took the stage, I ventured out to brave [...]

The Hillside Festival in Guelph was...unreal. So many great shows, so many great people. Because there's so much to cover here, I'm going to make my posts day-by-day. These posts will be filled with commentary, poorly lit photos, and shaky video footage. But if these things can make you feel even a remote portion of the joy I felt this past weekend, then it will all be well worth it. The Grates rock out. Friday was a whirlwind of a [...]
