via www.undomondo.com One of the emergent trends for contemporary music this year, - if we can get a glimpse while actually living inside it- is the apparent comeback of shoegazing aesthetic in indie music circles. Although it might simply be that I'm more conditioned or better equipped to identify it in different genres, since shoegaze is not limited to its alt.rock context these days, and it's blended with different elements. One such artist is Paneye from Sydney whose self released and freely downloadable Wilt and Loom has quite a bit of [...]

Here's another nice little surprise from the mailbox. As usual I cannot really pinpoint what exactly made me check this particular mail out, instead of the +400 other unread ones in the mailbox, though it probably was the use of the label "shoegaze" that once again did the trick? So this morning I've been listen to Swedish one-man project Vadadi , which logically is named after the man behind the music; Robert Vadadi . He's quite recently (late 2008 I believe) put out a self-titled album containing 9 tracks (and running for a little [...]

Anyone else notice that I've missed the Friday mixtape? It wasn't intentional- rather, I spent the holiday getting a killer cold (again! this season sucks!), and am still recovering. I've managed to pull something together for a MONDAY mixtape, but it's just not the same. I've gone nearly three years without missing a Friday, and now this. It's like the Chelsea home record lately. Anyway... I'll do better in 2009. Tracklisting: Archangel - How To Lose Your Best Friend Blind [...]
Mew are one of the best bands of the new century, I mean 'And The Glass Handed Kites' couldn't have been more perfect could it? It balanced the excesses of prog with the all-encompassing noise of shoegaze to create something epic. And that's what instantly jumped into my mind when I heard Vadadi and this song in particular. 'Loveless' as a term has been patented by an Irish band of a certain

Robert Vadadi is a musician from Sweden who writes and records as Vadadi , and his self-titled debut album has recently been released on his own label. Vadadi's music is clearly shoegaze inspired, but there are a lot of different elements in here from a range of different musical genres, so it's difficult to point at one genre only. Everything is very melodic and melancholic. Vadadi manages to balance on the line between light and dark, - happiness and sadness, and he never crosses over to either sides, - always stays on the line. [...]

Robert Vadadi is the central character in this emo inspired band, and the debut album has just been released. Even if there are some models here, it feels like a very personal album, which Robert emphasizes with his special, almost whispering voice. The music are sometimes a mellow pop/rock, with grand choruses and a driving beat, where the toms are worked hard. And in some songs it's about more quiet thoughts with beautiful melodies. Mellow yes, but not as dark as thought from the start, rather a sense of hope beneath the surface, human and beautiful. Personal. [...]
