Canadian time traveler Vespers is a glitch hop pioneer who's been producing songs and mastering the art of EDM training for years. His latest EP is a three track sampler of his glitchy skills and cool, funky style, and here it for your listening pleasure. If you love grooving to the warm productions of Pretty Lights, you'll feel right at home listening to Vespers' similarly jazzy atmosphere and crisp sound (particularly "Who's Your Daddy" & "Let's Get Gangster.") When the occasional saxophone cracks a solo, prepare yourself for the incredible sound of rolling, icy glitch-bliss delivered by every [...]

The Vespers' sophomore album, The Fourth Wall, will be released on April 3rd. Composed of sisters Callie and Phoebe Cryar and brothers Bruno and Taylor Jones, the Nashville quartet has been described by others as a "'Southern Folk Pop Family Band" and they call themselves "two sisters, two brothers, four friends, ten instruments, one fun [...]
A pair of sibling duos -- Callie and Phoebe Cryar along with Taylor and Bruno Jones -- make up The Vespers , a native Nashville quartet that offers up modern acoustic folk with a traditional foundation. Their 2010 album Tell Your Mama turned a number of critical heads with the Cryar's string-band instrumentation and sweet harmonies and the Jones brothers' bass and drum rhythm section. New album The Fourth Wall is already targeted for a February 21 release but the Vespers are looking now to fans to raise funds for the [...]

Beyond This Place is the heart-wrenching documentary of a father and son's rocky relationship and their journey toward reconc iliation paralleled through a 500-mile bike trip through the Pacific Northwest. As previously reported, tapped to soundtrack this emotionally exhausting cinematic event was none other than rocker and director Kaleo La Belle's childhood friend Sufjan Stevens . Now, as Pitchfork reports, Stevens will revisit the material when he performs the soundtrack live during film screenings in NYC, Portland, San Francisco, and LA over the next few weeks. Check out the exact dates and locations below. In addition to the screenings, Stevens also unveiled the [...]

Though we're still waiting with bated breath for Sufjan Stevens' follow up to last year's Age of Adz , his current project is enough of a cover until then. Teaming up with Raymond Raposa and Vesper, the three have created the score for the upcoming film Beyond This Place. It's the story of filmmaker Kaleo La Belle, who was a childhood friend of Stevens. Stevens and Reposa will also be performing the score live in a few cities, the dates of which you can check out below. ( via ) Download Raymond Raposa [...]

Acclaimed indie-folk duo Ben + Vesper have collaborated with Sufjan Stevens, apprenticed as a midwife, and are currently building "a robot that gives you quarters when you're sad" . . . Ben + Vesper are unlike most married couples that you meet. First off, this New Jersey duo are in their own two-piece band that is simply called, well, Ben + Vesper. Sure, they make music together -- and often sing in perfect harmony -- but few couples could have amassed as diverse a musical background as they have, as their indie-pop songs tend to shift between styles often [...]
"My Father's Eyes" is the first single off husband-and-wife duo Ben + Vesper's sophomore album, Honors (Sounds Familyre). Inspired by Ben Stamper's childhood, it alludes to the stern, but equally compassionate, look he would receive from his father when he acted foolish. Stamper directed the song's video, which features animations created by Justin Canha. Watch it [...]

Photography by Me! WHEE ! Happy US Thanksgiving Eve!!! Very excited! Tonight, all across America, people will be placing giblets under their pillows with hopes that the Great Gobbler will swoop down their chimneys, exchanging the less-than-pleasanet-though-ver y-high-in-iron innards for beer & Stove Top Stuffing brand stuffing! AND... if you've been an extra good boy or girl this year, the Great Gobbler will even insure your favourite team has an extra-special juiced-up syringe of steroids, to help them win "the big game". Here's [...]
After a long break and a period of serious stylistic growth, Andrew Betts aka Vespers returns to Pop and Lock with a wicked 2 tracker backed with a remix from fellow BC beat junkie Ill-esha . Hard to define and yet so obviously west coast, the original of "Put Down The Gun" grabs the vocal talents of MC Vex, whose quick rhymes and hype roll perfectly over a bass heavy, dubbed out groove. Don't let the mellow keys fool you - this baby has teeth. Ill-esha is a lady who needs no introduction for [...]
Photography by Amelia [well, actually by my friend Laura, 'cause that's me in the picture, but it was on my phone so I'm taking credit] This is a mixtape about a triangle. A Troublesome Trio, Three Amigos. Side one is from a Brokenhearted Boy's perspective, about the girl who broke his heart. Side two is from a Gloomy Girl's perspective, who happens to love Brokenhearted Boy. The missing side of the triangle is the Other Girl, the friend to both who started causing all the trouble. So since Brokenhearted Boy is sad about the Other Girl and Gloomy [...]
