Mysticism and its lore are dead. Psychopath killers are shocking, but can be dealt with. Million candle flashlights exist for dark areas. The real horror of the modern day halloween is the loss of civil liberties, the loss of privacy, sociopath bankers, sociopath politicians, child snuff films, chemical drugs that don't let go, psychological manipulations and influence, disease warfare, economic warfare, irreversible pollution and its environmental effects, the religious indoctrination of intolerance, and on and on. We're all playing a very large and intricate game of the prisoner's dilemma where we all have to be rats all the time, it's [...]

Ultimate vibe track from half of Vex'd, brings us back to Bladerunner and sends us back to the future. Loaded with his own preoccupations with futurism and escapism, Kudeo created one of the best albums of last year and this is one of my favourite tracks on it. ”I wanted to capture a really futurist sentiment, kind of melancholy and grand luminescent, so I used the instrument that most evokes that for me - that sweeping Vangelis brass sound.”

You could learn to play the piano, we could learn to play the piano, we could all be pianists if we really, really wanted to. If any of us spent a few months or years having drumming lessons then we may end up happy to take to the sticks in a band. However, not everyone can sing. Sure, you can have lessons, we can have lessons, but without any actual original talent to start with it's pretty hard to get anywhere, especially professionally. You either have it or you don't. Well, here's a new artist that's stepping out from the [...]

Jamie Teasdale, 1/2 of the Bristolian outfit Vex'd and better known as Kuedo, his work has flowered with accessibility, maintaining some of its edginess. Roly Porter, unlike his counter part, is rooted in the wastelands of the 21st century only occasionally peaking out for glimpses of neon lights and rainbows. In Aftertime , Roly’s recent release on the Subtext imprint, he implements ambient sounds, industrialized landscapes and abstract futurism that posit the album as conceptual at its core. Anyone familiar with the lineage of Dillinja’s the Angels Fell , will hear in this album [...]
Combining elements of footwork and synth-heavy soundtrack music, Kuedo-a.k.a. Jamie Vex'd-is taking a break from dubstep to bring two different worlds together. WATCH THE REVIEW

Kuedo was at the hub of the dubstep community before it exploded into a global hullabaloo. I still remember tuning into pirate radio in 2006, listening to the local dj yelp on about the freezing cold studio. The dj was isolated and yearned for interaction with listeners in the city. The spine chilling industrialist soundtrack of Vex’d beats made his voice sound markedly more desperate than he may have truly been. This element of their music may have remained despite Kuedo’s apparent metamorphosis. Vex’d have since worked on other projects and Kuedo lost his distortive tendencies, [...]

As one half of Vex'd (alongside Roly Porter), Jamie Teasdale was responsible for two outstanding LPs of truly groundbreaking Dubstep. Their creations together tipped the Dubstep world upside down, raising the mark for every aspiring producer to follow them. Now he's launching his solo material under the Kuedo alias to see if he can do the same thing to whatever the hell scene we're in now. Having said that, it should be noted that there do exist a few singles and EPs stretching as far back as 2009. Still, this is his first full [...]
Jamie Teasdale's previous incarnation as one half of Vex'd was typical of early Planet Mu output in which label leader Mike Paradinas favoured glitch-laden breakbeats on speed. Planet Mu produced radio-unfriendly breakcore and Vex'd was no different, with its brain-melting, frenetic beats it made drum n' bass seem like easy listening. Teasdale has returned, though this time his name - and his sound - is very much different. Under the new moniker of Kuedo , Teasdale has abandoned his manic glitch and instead has gone for elements of what could be defined as the 'futurist' sound of the likes [...]

Dubstep Warz by Mary Anne Hobbs on Mixcloud "January 9th >>10th 2011 is the 5th anniversary of the notorious Dubstep Warz transmission on my BBC Radio1 Breezeblock show. This show marked the global tipping point for the dubstep sound. Mala, Skream, Kode 9 & The Spaceape, Vex'd, Hatcha & Crazy D, Loefah & Sgt Pokes and Distance changed the world of global dance music forever. Dubstep Warz still sounds as vital, as primal and as thrilling as the night we threw it down.. it [...]

Ramadanman EP on Hessle Audio Well, it's another month, and another round-up of amazing releases. We've got another three pages of reviews (and we tried to cut it down, we swear!), and that's not even including the big artist LPs released this month: check our reviews of Ikonika's Contact, Love, Want, Have , Starkey's Ear Drums and Black Holes , and Vex'd Cloud Seed . After you've read those, don't forget to check [...]

Vex'd never got to finish this album, however, when you listen to this it sounds like nothing less than a finished, darkly shining, masterpiece. It's not as heavy as their previous effort Degenerate - yet still it is undeniably a cinematic paean to the dank bowels of London. This is no retread of Untrue though, it's altogether more shadowy, more apocalyptic - more dramatic. Barely a shaft of brightness pierces the gloom shrouding the waves of fathomless bass - as El-P soundalike Jest intones on the supreme Disposition "I seen the sun... once". [...]

Both members of Vex'd reunite to discuss their beginnings, their long-lost new LP, and their thoughts on the current state of dubstep music for an exclusive interview. Vex'd are the British duo of Jamie and Roly whose 2005 debut album Degenerate is widely acknowledged as the first proper dubstep album, and still one of the very best, recently referred to by Mary Anne Hobbs as "the single most accomplished and important record in album form of the genre." Released on Planet Mu during that label's initial foray [...]

jamie vex'd, under his new alias, KUEDO, has yet again proved to all that he's better than the rest, the flood of pretenders coming into his house. his new EP dream sequence, released on planet mu, is a cracking journey through the slightly less disturbed regions of the vex'd mind. also, the video was kindly put together by a mr. toomey so thanks. AND let us not forget lylat wars or, as it was known in the us, star fox 64. super game. >> hear and buy dream sequence ep
