Girlfriends get mad. It's inevitable. The trick is not to not make your girlfriend mad, that's an excersize in futility. The trick is to figure out the fastest way to make your girlfriend un-mad. In my days I've figured out that a well planned mixtape can sometimes work wonders, but since the days of mixtapery are fastly dying, a well thought out ipod playlist works just as well. Via Audio Though this was my third time seeing Via Audio (links to first and second ) it was the first time I've been able to fully pay attention to their show. I was very impressed. Not just by the continuous trading off of instruments, but also by the incredible variety of songwriting that exists within this one band. Listen: "Modern Day Saint" Visit Via Audio on MySpace , see more [...]
Die wundervolle Radiostation WOXY hatte sich für die Zeit des SXSW eine Lounge gemietet und die crème der anwesenden Bands zu entspannten Sessions und kurzen Interviews geladen: The Early Tapes, Pompeii, She, Sir, Peel, The Lemurs, Via Audio, The Little Ones, Sara Culler, Age Rings, 120 Days, Land Of Talk, Snowden, Winterpills, Calla, The Rumble Strips, Stelldichein . Eine Liste, die sich gut liest, und noch besser anhört. Hier nur ein Beispiel: MP3: 120 days / Session @ Woxy.com Technorati Tags: The Early Tapes [...]

It's true ya know? So why not a post to celebrate it? There are very few things more satisfying than driving to Julie Doiron's I Left Town or singing along to Rilo Kiley's Does He Love You or playing air guitar while listening to Via Audio's Mouth Shut or falling asleep to Camera Obscura's Books Written for Girls. I hope you enjoy. [mp3] Rilo Kiley - Does He Love You? [mp3] Via Audio - Mouth Shut [...]

First off New York was great, I had a blast and made many a hillarious memories with 7 of my good friends. Something else I did in New York is learn a lesson about hotel check in and check out time. The eight of us lugged our stuff around queens for 4 hours the day we got there looking for the hotel. We all decided that it would not be the same on the day we left (check out was at noon and our bus was at eight) so we left our stuff at a friend of my friend Justin's [...]
I was playing a couple of songs recently for my wife that I was really loving lately. After hearing the first two, she remarked that I really loved bands with vocal harmonies. And after denying it at first, I gotta admit, its true, Im a sucker for them. Especially a lovely 4 part harmony like Via Audio likes to use. Via Audio are a really excellent pop outfit that combines the harmonies that I enjoy with playful lyrics to make an indie pop outfit that brings to mind The Cardigans [...]

Via Audio has some decent sized names in indie music in their corner. Chris Walla from Death Cab For Cutie stumbled across their MySpace site and ended up writing about his "new favorite band" in Under The Radar magazine. Then, after a band member, Jessica Martins, slipped a copy of their EP to Jim Eno from Spoon at one of their shows in Boston, Eno ended up liking it so much that he invited the band down to Austin this past summer to produce their new record, [...]

Via Audio Does the world really need another co-ed indie pop band from Brooklyn? Sure, why not? These previews of their debut album Say Something , due out sometime next year, present a band that strikes the delicate balance between hooky melodicism and downbeat lyricism that bands like late-era Cardigans have perfected to great effect. Throw in some hearty endorsements courtesy of Death Cab's Chris Walla and polished production courtesy of Spoon's Jim Eno and you've got an outfit well poised for a big 2007. And I have [...]
i sort of think our radio shows get a) more ridiculous and b) also better every week. so why don't you go over to Break Thru Radio and clicky click on "The Blog Show." sexy time! and then you can download these songs from the bands we featured this week. and then go to Rachael's blog and explain to her why Pittsburg isn't Paris. Via Audio - Modern Day Saint [...]
Everyone having as much fun as we are listening to The Blog Show? Hello….is this thing on? Hi! Well good news: my voice is back and we're got four more awesome bands for you to listen to. Plus I fumble over all my words and Nora and I get down and dirty (listen to find out exactly what that means). Plus, blogger of the week goes out to the one and only Jerry Yeti . We have much to say about this one. Head on over [...]

Welcome to another edition of Track Marks, where your Idolators perform an autopsy on the latest MP3-blog sensation. Artist: Via Audio Hometown: Brooklyn, NY, via Boston Album: Say Something , 2006 First blog mention: A track posted to Sixeyes in April. The Build-Up: Mentions over the summer from Ear Farm and 5 Acts , then radio silence until October, when Largehearted Boy included them in his "Daily Download" section. [...]

I actually first heard of Via Audio through my friend Abby, which was a bit of a role reversal for us to say the least. But when she begged me to come to Living Room to see them and I agreed, I couldn't have been happier that I did. Originally from Boston, this indie rock quartet who recently relocated to Brooklyn put on a great show and have been garnering a lot of buzz lately. Highlighted by the beautiful vocals of Jessica Martins, these Berklee grads and multi-instrumentalists have some wonderful fun and quirky tunes [...]
Something of a slow news week musically speaking. A collective inhalation while everyone scratches around for new Modest Mouse tracks, waiting to put forward their opinion on the Swan Lake album. Happy Monday everybody. Listen: Don't Know Won't Like - Guess Who? Ghost Cauldron - Right Now feat. Perilaus Bull Neutral Milk Hotel - ...

I jumped up, danced a little, sat back down. Thats how Plans & Apologies starts off. Its pop you are allowed to listen to and still be cool. Its so aesthetically pleasing and structured, all while still being just a smidgen of so many genres. Its been compared to Dinosaur Jr. amoungst other similar rarities, but all I knows is its fun, light-hearted music. Their new album/EP "Wirez, Man" is a beautiful (although short at 23 minutes) collection of music. The first song, [...]
I'm a far cry from a one-trick pony, but if you serve me up a heaping plate of interesting melodic indiepop, I'm going to devour it. Such is the case with Via Audio , a Boston foursome that calls to mind Deathcab for Cutie, Rainer Maria, and Margot & The Nuclear So-and-So's. This band has heart as well: Modern Day Saint was written for a friend (Dan Lang-Gunn of The Modern Day Saint) after he suffered a brain injury during a show. The new record is wrapping up with Jim Eno of Spoon producing. Chris Walla loves this band. [...]

I haven't really been keeping up with blogs lately, so for the most part i've just been reading this avalanche of email I get to find something good to post about. This becomes a chore as I usually don't get anything good at all, but sometimes...just sometimes i'll find something pleasantly good. A few days ago i recieved some tracks from Via Audio , an unsigned band originally out of Boston (now NYC I think). This four-piece plays good ol' fashion indie-pop and who can complain about that? Noone, exactly. [...]

First and foremost, GO VOTE TODAY! . What a cruisazy week in the NFL?! Undefeated teams losing to one-win teams, blocked kicks, big chokes, amazing catches, amazing drops...wow, just outstanding. Jude - Crazy (Gnarls Barkley Cover) Buffalo 24, Green Bay 10 J.P. Losman is still terrible, but he was saved this week by his defense. The one thing he managed not to do though was lose the game for Buffalo. He and his [...]

Only three songs for the "leftovers" section this month. As we head toward the end of the year, the number of indie releases seems to wind down making finding new material a little harder than usual. Still, this brings the advantage of letting me go back over some of the great records I may have missed over the course of the year. Any recommendations for small albums that I may have missed over the past year? MP3 Pocketbooks - Cross The Line I first wrote [...]

Via Audio is the brainchild of three music students from Berkley and through touring and EP-recording they've been able to catch the attention of members of indie rock veteran bands like Spoon and Death Cab for Cutie. Chris Walla and Jim Eno obviously fell like the world needs some more fun guitar pop, and with their help the band will soon release their first full length, Say Something . Before that though, the band is prepping for their CMJ showcase and buzz tells me that they are something to hear live. "We can Be Good" [...]
