Just got this from the folks at Modular last week. Beni goes soft on us with this track feat Via Tania. Very unlike his style, yet still very refreshing to switch from dance floor destroyers to something simple and chilled and beautiful like this. Via's voice is stunning, makes me wanna cuddle a lover, makes me wanna dance in the rain and then go on to tumblr and upload blurred photographs of fields with slogans on them saying things like "i miss you and it hurts." [Beni ft. Via Tania - Zig Zags] [...]
Indie Duo Eric & Magill release Kick The Covers Vol.1, A cover song EP, to thank musicians who helped produce their first record.

Beni ft Via Tania - Zig Zags [mp3 SoundCloud] Zig Zags is taken from Beni's debut album, House of Beni and features the supersweet vocals by Via Tania

Beni - House Of Beni By Stef Siepel Naturally, the title of this album is a not so subtle pun. Beni named his debut House of Beni , obviously to signal that you are in Beni’s place where his rules go. Also, it is Beni’s house (music) that you will be hearing. Arguably this pun is not the greatest linguistic accomplishment ever, but in all its simplicity it does bring across the necessary information. Namely, this is an album by Beni and his friends, and what you’ll [...]

These mixes were posted in January and February 2010, the winter of our discontent. Seriously, the blog was on life support during this time. We're through that storm now. 2010 was such a great year for music, and these early mixes show why. Many of the tracks were available in late 2009, but appeared on 2010 releases. Tracks are from late October through late November 2009 Gapless mix ripped at 256k VBR. Download all tracks in one zip file [...]
I've always been a sucker for a sexy accent. Musicians with sexy accents are even better. Along with the First Fridays exhibit " Self-Titled ," Gallery 5 will also be hosting "The Accents Tour," which showcases rising European and Australian artists on the verge of international success. Via Tania is an Australian born singer songwriter, who's latest album ebbs and flows with an enticing harmony. Her lyrics and hushed vocals highlight her truly unique musical abilities. British born, Freddie Stevenson has been playing guitar and [...]

I heard The Very Best play at Millennium Park’s Jay Pritzker Pavilion earlier this month. The polyglot party-starters charged through their set, but their energy was lost on most attendees. In the end, what good is exuberance if it’s not reciprocated? As aesthetically and technically pleasing as the Pavilion might be, it is not necessarily ideal for a performance. Not only do outdoor venues pose challenges of space and distance for an artist, but when they play for free in a place like Millennium Park they are no longer the star attraction. They become a curiosity. It’s unlikely [...]

Uni for this semester is coming to a close (exams in two weeks) and thus, I'm trying to get all these tracks out on the blog, one step at a time. Let's progress onwards shall we disciples? > > > > Heard this one in a Revenge mix a while back. Acid Pauli makes it cool deeep. And who doesn't love that Gaye vocal? MP3: Marvin Gaye - What's Going On (Acid Pauli Remix) Here's a nice remix by The Popular People's Front released in 2009 [...]

Via Tania - 'Fields' ( mp3 ) 'Fields' is the new single from Chicago-based Australian Via Tania (aka Tania Burrows). Originally a bonus track on the US edition of her 2007 album Moon Sweet Moon (released Stateside only last year), I guess Burrows realised that it was too good to resign to obscurity in her backcatalogue and decided to put it out as a digital stand-alone back home. With a simple, repetitive structure and minimal instrumentation, the song relies and thrives on Burrows' breathy, double-tracked vocals and buoyant melody. One of those songs [...]

Don't hang me for not completely loving The National's previous releases more than this new single that I prefer and has me excited for this new record. I can hear the super talent here and all the reason people love this band, i'm happy to be converted but I don't know if I can handle a whole show yet. Fur is on Waaga Records who really has their finger on the pulse of what I think will keep this instrumental indie in people's face because of the undeniable catchy music coming [...]

The Juan Maclean has completely transformed Via Tania's majestic "Fields" into a floor-filling, ass-shaking slice of tech-house gold. A subtle approach to the changeovers gives this tune real longevity bound to get all dance floors shaking. One for the weekend I think. Thanks to XLR8R for this bad boy. Via Tania - Fields (The Juan Maclean Remix)

One of the brightest spots in Chicago's summer concert series are the Downtown Sound shows at Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park . The Monday night concert series has featured a variety of acts including up-and-coming indie groups such as St. Vincent and the Dirty Projectors in 2009. Yesterday, we posted news that She & Him are confirmed to play a Monday, June 7 , date. Well, Chicago Sun-Times' Jim DeRogatis posted the entire lineup to his blog yesterday afternoon. Highlights, aside from She & Him, include a reunited Hum, Caribou, Kid Sister and the [...]
The second single from Via Tania's excellent album Moon Sweet Moon, "Fields" is a quieting three-and-a-half minute guitar-strummed and drummed marching affair that evokes the running through the aforementioned fields, glistening sunlight and windswept hair, the benchmarks of some journey...
