Ghostland Observatory will lazerize WaMu this weekend / photo by Christopher Nelson We've got another great week of shows in Seattle, with a ton of variety. This is a city where you can see a good show just about every night of the week, and this one is no exception. Starting on Monday night, we've got some great Northwest connections back in town with former Fleet Fox Josh Tillman's new project, Father John Misty , performing at Neumos. On Tuesday, there's a psych fest at Neumos with Black Moth Super Rainbow, Lumerians, and Pictorials . [...]

As an avid live music attendee, the list of restricted items for any particular show is extremely easy to gloss over. Within the EDM community, thanks to vague rave ordinances, promoters generally add special restrictions for glowsticks and laser pointers, but for Bassnectar 's weekend run at Chicago's Congress Theater there was one special line under the "Can Bring" heading that deserved a double-take: Reasonable amount of inflatable toys. That single line helped shed light on the unique vibe that follows Bassnectar around the globe, including his current lengthy Vava Voom Tour. To aid in handling that [...]

Photo by Avery Cunliffe Given Hollywood's obsession with remakes, it's probably time for an update of 19662s surfer-documentary The Endless Summer , where cameras now follow Bassnectar (aka producer Lorin Ashton) around the globe in search of the perfect bass-heavy omni-tempo set. With American summer festival appearances in the rear-view mirror, Bassnectar is currently performing across Australia and New Zealand as part of the Big Day Out series, which runs through February 5th. After a minor February respite, Bassnectar has scheduled shows in Salt Lake City and Las Vegas [...]

VibeSquaD - Shine Been diggin' on these tracks too much these days not to shout out VibeSquaD and the 7-track Orphan Alien pt.1 , so let me be perfectly clear when I say this, 'cause it's kinda important: OH. FUCK. YES! Featuring crunchy, bouncy bass, coupled with dirty-dirty synth and pounding, in-your-face whomp-whomp-whomps, plus enough digital bleeps and bloops to hit all of those sweet spots - this one leaves me slobbering for more after every single listen . Orphan [...]
