today i decided to fishing at one of my favorite local holes, sweetwater park, and this is what i found. absolutely depressing. you would have to be living under a rock not to know about the drought, at least locally. it wasnt until i saw it with thine eyes that i didnt fully comprehend the gravity of the situation. shits, messed up. it should look somewhat like this..

Vic Chesnutt released North Star Deserter last week, so I picked a show from the "vault" that has a performance of a song from the new album ("You Are Never Alone"). Tour dates are booked for late September and October, with Liz Durrett and Ham1 (both opening and backing Vic). Track 1 - Wrong Piano Track 2 - Assist Track 3 - Where's The Clock Track 4 - Rambunctious Cloud [...]
On a different level, Vic Chesnutt's musical collaborators and co-conspirators, over the past 15 years, are almost as interesting and varied as the southern Gothic bard's lyrical imagery itself. Always one for experimentation, the artist has collaborated with, among others: Van Dyke Parks, Lambchop, Michael Stipe, Will Johnson, Widespread Panic, and Bill Frisell. [...]

Yasumasa Morimura - Mother [Judith II] (1991) Vic Chesnutt - You Are Never Alone (mp3): Sometimes an enabler is the best type of salad dressing; thick, creamy, and just the right amount of too much. It goes down the smoothest and helps develop a belly to keep you company. T he only reason you need to hear someone tell you you're never alone is because you are alone. [...]

Still from Sedmikrásky / Daisies by Chytilova, 1966 "It's not love," he added quickly. "But we are going to see each other again. But tell me, Daniel-I mean, I knew you before you knew Karla. Did you ever think then that love was never going to happen to you?" "Pretty much." "And when it did happen, how did you feel?" "Happy. And then I got afraid that it would vanish as quickly as it came. [...]

Still from Andrei Tarkovsky's 'Andrei Rublev' (1969) Probably one of my favourite scenes in a motion picture comes from Andrei Tarkovsky's 'Andrei Rublev'. The film – a true masterpiece in itself – ends with a shot of several horses in the rain, a beautiful symbolic image. This is what Andrei Tarkovsky himself had to say about this scene: I'd like to point out the film ends with an image of horses in rain. It is a symbolic image as horse for me is a synonym of life. When I'm looking at a [...]

Insound has a new "Save the Album" marketing campaign for their soon-to-come full-album download service, featuring videos of musicians talking about their favorite records while sitting in front of their sizeable collections. John Darnielle and Devendra Banhart are the highlights, jabbering about Boz Scaggs and Johnny Cash. Eef Barzaley is doing a hell of a blog marketing campaign for his new

Today is Independence day for the U.S.A. and it is a hot, steamy one down here in the Florida penisula. The Shuttle Discovery is due to launch (barring weather and foam insulation problems) and there will be fireworks tonight. The area I live in has an intra-coastal waterway (Banana River, Indian River) - in between the waterway and the ocean is where I live. The map shows it better than I can describe. Fireworks go off over the waterway and provide a very nice show for sure. I hope everyone has a good Fourth [...]
