Much like Chuck Ragan is doing with the Revival Tour Kevin Seconds of 7 Seconds is leading a group of punks-gone-acoustic on the road, himself included, for the inaugural Arms Aloft Social & Musical Roadshow . Kevin Seconds and Kepi Ghoulie (of Groovie Ghoulies) have been out on tour since 3/12 and have a rotating cast of characters opening for them. Currently that includes Franz Nicolay (of e World/Inferno Friendship Society, ex-Hold Steady, etc) and Vic Ruggiero (of the Slackers, sometimes-Rancid, etc). All [...]

Kevin Seconds , Kepi Ghoulie , Vic Ruggiero , and Franz Nicolay will be heading out on the road together for the Arms Aloft Social & Musical Roadshow . The roadshow was organized by Kevin Seconds himself after being inspired from playing a series of shows with the likes of Kepi Ghoulie , Chuck Ragan , Tim Barry , Jesse Michaels , Mike Park , Joey Cape , and Jon Snodgrass back in 2008. Seconds wanted to create a "travelling community" with his friends and singer-songwriters throughout [...]

While we all wait patiently for the return of Sacramento's sadly defunct Groovie Ghoulies , it is good to know that the lead ghoul, Kepi Ghoulie , is still rockin' and havin' a damn good time. His 2009 solo album, Life Sentence , continues the tradition of the Groovie Ghoulies with tasty Ramones style sing-a-longs, and last Saturday's afternoon show at 1-2-3-4 Go! Records was pure joy. The drummer was certainly the happiest drummer on earth, and Kepi kept the crowd laughing with his random thought generator cranked up on caffeine [...]
Former NJ ska band, Miasmics are set to reunite this Sat, May 7th at Montclair's Meat Locker for a cancer benefit. The show is being billed as 'Stay Awesome Fest' and will also include Vic Ruggiero & Other Slackers, King DJango and They Live!

Portlanders: Vic Ruggiero of the great Slackers will be playing with Bouncing Souls singer Greg Attonito and Shanti Wintergate at Artistery Saturday night. I highly recommend checking it out. Doors are at 8 and it's just $7. (Photo by capturedenigmaphoto ) Vic Ruggiero - "Taking Care of Business" (from Something In My Blindspot )

Filed under: News , New Music , Exclusive As the saying goes, the more things change, the more they stay the same. For Vic Ruggiero, the singer and keyboard player of longtime New York City ska act the Slackers , that statement certainly holds true about his band. "A friend of mine had this videotape from a gig that must have been from '94 or '95, right when we recorded our first album, 'Better Late Than Never.' For us, our [...]
Oftentimes, the best music travels by word of mouth from friends. For me, that's the case with Brooklyn ska band The Slackers —a band I might've never heard about if not played endlessly by a good friend. Fronted by the charismatic and often self-depricating singer Vic Ruggiero, the Slackers came about in the early 90s ska resurgence that saw bands like The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Reel Big Fish rise to soaring—albeit brief—heights. While the Slackers might not have caught on fire like those bands, they've also never suffered from a lack of inspiration. The band, so far, has [...]
Like the aforementioned Jesse Dayton from my last post, the Slackers are American indie music makers I can't get enough of. I first got hipped to them about 10 years ago, mainly due to their association with Rancid. In fact if it wasn't for the... visit for more mp3's & random revelations
