It's January and it's not cold. I know, right? I might make it out of my first ever winter without seeing a snowflake, when they've had snow three times just four hours away from me. Strange. Plus, the Caps are still mired in mediocrity. At least Ovechkin is scoring a few goals now though…look how happy Semin is when they win a game nowadays. Anyway, I'm here to deliver yet another twelve pack of MP3 goodies that have been dropped off in the past bit by PR companies/bands/well wishers that we haven't had time to pick through or [...]
[LOCAL] The new album from Erik Appelwick's Vicious Vicious is out now.

Vicious Vicious the side project of Erik Appelwick of Tapes N Tapes, with it's new stripped down, awesome line-up of Appelwick , Dosh & James Buckley. Early local record of the year contender. Vicious Vicious- "I Know U Know I Know" -mp3

Even though I was never infected by the Tape N' Tapes epidemic, I was nonetheless plenty aware of their music and exploits, particularly those of bassist/producer, Erik Appelwick. Appelwick, aka Vicious Vicious has been making music for a virtual coon's age round here, and has always been chummy with MOKB. Additionally, if you were to conduct an unscientific pool amongst my ladyfriend and her gaggle, you would quickly surmise that Mr. VV is a USDA Grade A heartthrob who sets hearts a'flutterin' in every corner of these twin bergs. So if you find yourself [...]
Welcome to almost August. It's your last Monday of July 2008, there won't be another quite like it, ever. We've been backed up with tons of music for you guys but haven't had the chance to make a mix for a long long while so that's what we're going to do today! So enjoy some new tracks, discover something different, and spread more music! Pelle Carlberg - 1983 (Pelle & Sebastian) The Very Most - Love At Home Sondre Lerche - Modern Nature Ave.To - Bahia [...]
Although the Minneapolis rock band Vicious Vicious hasn't had a near recent release, I have been listening to them non-stop, especially Here Come Tha Police , off their Don't Look So Surprised album. Their latest, Parade, dropped last September continued their progression of sound with what I thougt was a little bit more mellow but then I heard Charmed which rocks out. You get a good blend of the pop keys with touches of shoe-gazey electronics. And just for you, I have selected a song from each album . [...]

"The winds of change are blowing, I can see it in your smile." Thank you, Erik Applewick, for continually enchanting me year after year (or at least, let's agree, every two). Though you may know Applewick via last year's indie sensation Tapes 'n' Tapes, or, if you're local, power pop group the Hopefuls, Vicious Vicious is undoubtedly his most involved and perhaps his most acclaimed project. With a new crew of local musicians in tow, Vicious is no longer a solo side project. [...]

This week in my musical life was a seven-day sojourn of sifting through my CD collection in an effort to re-acquaint myself with some old friends I'd lost touch with. The funny thing about writing about music is that with new bands, new material and new shows popping up on a daily basis it seems, I have a tendency to be overwhelmed with a sense of what's coming up next and unfortunately some favorites get temporarily buried in the shuffle. I was almost equally overwhelmed by the amount of records and cd's I'd nearly forgotten [...]
