The top mp3s have gone through many incarnations since the beginning of Consequence of Sound in 2007. What used to be an exhaustive roundup of all the singles, remixes, covers, and undiscovered gems emailed to us any given week evolved into a compilation whittled down to our 10 favorite new songs. For 2013, we’re again changing up the format with the hope of giving our selections some added weight. We’re still posting about our 10 favorite songs, but they’ll be ordered in quality from 10-1. Who takes home #1 this week? You’ll have to click ‘Next’ to find [...]

Killer Mike's all over the blogs today. This morning a monstrous snippet of "Banana Clipper" from the upcoming Killer Mike/El-P ... Read the full article at http://www.prefixmag.com/news/ killer-mike-drops-villain-and- preps-new-run-the-je/73371/

Earlier today, Killer Mike revealed the first snippet of his joint album with El-P, but that pales in comparison to this other collaboration with - yes - the Justice League. Joining the likes of Depeche Mode, Portugal. The Man, Minus The Bear, and more, the Atlanta MC contributed the new track "Villain" to DC Entertainment's upcoming fighting game, Injustice: Gods Among Us . Backed by a synth tailored for some world-conquering mad scientist, Mike details his heinous skills as the bad guy, effectively outlining the ways he makes Darkseid look [...]

Underground hip-hop aficionados no doubt hold the Last Emperor's "Secret Wars" up there as some of the best nerd-rap around. And why not? The Philly MC was able to cram damn near ever comic book character into the track (and its sequel) while keeping it interesting enough for the non-nerds. Killer Mike 's new cut, "Villain", might not reach that level, but I get the feeling folks could just zone out and bang this shit hard considering the snarling production. Plus, the final verse kind of reminded me of "Secret Wars", which is something I could never ever be [...]

The Joker, Bane, Deathstroke, Darkseid and Lex Luthor - the scariest and most menacing villains in DC Comics’ universe - take center stage in a brand new full-length documentary from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and DC Entertainment. Christopher Lee, who has played the villain more times than almost any other actor, will provide his unique voice as narrator. His roles in more than 200 films include star turns as Dracula, the Mummy and Frankenstein’s monster in Hammer horror classics, Count Dooku in Star Wars, and Saruman in The Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit films. [...]

Atlanta producers Heroes x Villains bring you their debut bass heavy EP, Run The Trap . Make sure you play it loud! FREE DOWNLOAD: Heroes x Villains - Run The Trap EP

While you're all making your "year-end" lists and trying to include a definitive EP for the Trap sound within EDM, look no further. Heroes X Villains is pretty certified within the genre, and that's past a bonafied Trap-A-Holics stamp on the cover. HxV has been in Atlanta merging the sounds of EDM and rap before this Trap movement really came to a head, but even before that, the work as an engineer for Grand Hustle, and the years spent mixing and producing drum & bass has all lead to now. Over four tracks, you get a proper education [...]
