When I found out the Young & Lost Club girls, namely Nadia Dahlawi and Sara Jade, were a little younger than myself it really put how much they have done and how influential they are in the London music scene into some perspective for me. And now, celebrating their 50th single and 5 years as a label, they are releasing a double-disc compilation of 35 of their favourites. Their story is one of musical fairytale of sneaking out of boarding school to catch gigs around London, before starting a beautifully budget fanzine called Pyrrha,' [...]

New Line Records announces the release of the original soundtrack to the upcoming New Line Cinema/Offspring Entertainment production, 17 Again starring Zac Efron and Matthew Perry . The thirteen-track record offers material from Cat Power , newcomers The Virgins, Vincent, Vincent and the Villains , Sub Pop mainstay The Helio Sequence and other indie favorites. The collection also features classic artists; no film about reclaiming the glory days would be complete without Kenny Loggins' "Danger Zone." The true tour de force, however, is Young MC's [...]

So, although I'm about 5 years late on The Rumble Strips & Vincent Vincent + The Villains, I'm trying to get my head around the two bands and their connections. What I could grasp is that the lead singer of The Rumble Strips was in Vincent Vincent and the VIllains for a time, possibly on guitar and sometime-vocal duties. Then he left, I think, to form the Rumble Strips, and Vincent Vincent + The Villains sort of got angry and wrote the awesome song "Johnny Two Bands". Anyway, the point is both bands are really great, the Rumble Strips are [...]

English rockers Vincent Vincent and the Villains have just released their debut album Gospel Bombs , an enchanting collection of intriguing rock tunes with some shades of blues and some 1920s backdoor dealings. If you like Razorlight or the Rumble Strips (a former member of VVV left to start the Rumble Strips), then this is right up your alley. Trippy rock-pop tunes, even-toned vocals, and hints of reggae make Gospel Bombs a wonderful, enjoyable LP. Lead singer and guitarist Vincent Vincent has a uniquely pleasing voice, which gels quite well with the accessible riffs [...]

are possibly one of the worst evenings of the entire week, when you find yourself lying in your bed, nothing to do except checking your tv programme for some decent entertainment - but of course you'll be utterly disappointed. Luckily enough that I do not have to worry about getting up early the next day due to school or job attendance, which leads to a pestering feeling of being totally awake,

Ah, Vincent, so that's where you've gone! The Daily Growl has an excellent post today about a group called Vincent Vincent & the Villains . I first heard of this lot on an old sampler, singing a song called 'Johnny Two Bands' about a chap with an angelic voice who was torn between two bands. Well, The Growl has the full story about how Vincent Vincent & the Villains have become VV&tVs as well as emerging group The Rumble Strips. Johnny Two Bands takes on a new meaning as you read about it [...]

A shorter one today. Two bands. Who used to be one. Sort of. Anyway, the story centres round two blokes. Vincent Vincent (who I think is really called Mark) and Charlie Waller. They used to both play together in East London band Vincent Vincent and the Villains (above), who are often described as rockabilly, but are really more of indie band with a particular interest in 50s rock 'n' roll. Not just the sound either, which they do very well. They look quite the part too. VV&TV have [...]
It’s been ages since I’ve posted on here, and my posts have become more and more sporadic as work seems to take over my life (not out of choice I hasten to add) â€" 50 hours last week, and a fairly high likelyhood that this week will be the same â€" I think I may cry. Work aside, I’ve been going through a strange period where, on the whole, new music seems like too much to contend with â€" the stress of work makes me yearn for music I know and love rather than introducing anything new that [...]
