Scan "Self-Portrait with Sheila " by me Howdy kiddos! How the fuck are ya? Me? Well just dandy dandy, thank you for asking... As many of you know, I've been a busy boy over at tsurufoto , takin' lots of pictures, starting a nudie blog , and, of course, running the #1 nudiezine in the world ! I've taken quite a hiatus from "new music" for a few months and I [...]

If you haven't drunkenly sung along to The Cranberries' "Linger," there's room for improvement in your life. With that being said, a Cranberries' comeback—although smirk-worthy—is probably a few years too late. As excited as some people claim to be, are you really looking forward to this? You saw the video right? It's not that we wouldn't love to see the Cranberries make an epic comeback. It's just highly unlikely. It's much more likely that you'll continue to love singing along to "Linger" when it randomly comes on the radio and that will be the extent of your relationship [...]
Violent Femmes - Add It Up

"I'm high as a kite I just might stop to check you out"

Madison Series 17 by Jim Bird William Burroughs believed that language is a virus. He didn't mean this figuratively. He believed that language literally is a virus that controls what we think. We are infected like your computer is prone to a Trojan Horse. It is inside us, actively forcing its will on our minds, preventing them from doing whatever they want. If I say black cat, you will not imagine a witch's broom, a bowling ball, or a flaccid penis. But, now you have. This is why he would write words, cut them up and reorganize [...]
EMA has pretty impeccable taste in covers: Robert Johnson , Danzig , Nirvana , " Crimson And Clover ." And on her recent covers, she's been making like Ethan Hawke in Reality Bites and covering the Violent Femmes' deathless sexual-frustration anthem " Add It Up ," with added quasi-gypsy violin abuse. Watch a video of it below. Read More...
Watch EMA roar through the Violent Femmes' 'Add It Up' in Belgium.

Last night we here at One Thirty BPM went to see EMA and Wild Beasts (full review later). Midway through EMA's set she ripped into a cover of the Violent Femmes classic "Add It Up." Judging by the accomplished way that she and her band tore the song apart we knew it couldn't be the first time, but we were surprised that we hadn't heard about it sooner. Upon returning home we hungrily searched for some fan-recorded video of this performance from one of her other dates, and voila! Someone who saw her performance at the Botanique in Belgium a [...]

Back in March, our own Kelly Dearmore was among the many who caught New York band O'Death's stunning set at the 35 Conferette (now 35 Denton). He loved it, as you can see form what he wrote:As ... For most Americans, Fourth of July is an important day - it's the American holiday, and many people look to it as the official kick-off to the summer season (even though summer began on June 22). So, we set out to first pick keywords that exemplify the Fourth, including barbeques, picnics, parties, surfing, baseball, food, [...] Read more, get songs or stream the entire mix on Indie Rock Cafe
We caught up with the five members of Tigercats through the medium of email to discuss playing public toilets in Berlin, Rebecca Black as well as the best way to part your hair. COUGARMICROBES: What time did you wake up today? Was it out of choice or necessity? GILES: 9 out of necessity, 10.30 after [...]

Photography by me . Are you ready to testify, my brother? Are you ready to preach the good word???? Can I get an amen? AMEN! Can I get a halleloo? HAAALLLEEEEELOOOOOO!!! That's better... Did I ever tell you I'm a reverend? It's true. Got ordained 11 years ago. Nope, I'm no christian or any of that. I'm not this guy: ew. Yeah, sure I was raised baptist [...]
There are many ways to celebrate a musical anniversary: there's reissues , tours , and even throwing your own festival . To celebrate 15 years together, Alkaline Trio is hitting the road , as well as putting out a greatest hits album, titled Damnesia , featuring all new tracks. No, that's not a contradiction. The Illinoisan pop-punk band has put together a collection à la The Cure's Greatest Hits/Acoustic Hits , selecting 12 fan-favorite tracks in addition to creating brand new recordings. Instead of going purely [...]

New material from every mainstream person's music band are set to release their new track "Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall" this friday! Probably as a buzz downloadable single, allegedly. They tweeted: " @coldplay : Enough teasing... we have a new song called Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall. Hear it on Friday. http://cldp.ly/etisaw " Filed under: Uncategorized Tagged: album , art , Brian Eno , chris martin , coldplay , download , lower east side , music , Musical ensemble , [...]

Damnit. This podcast was supposed to be posted the last weekend of April but when I made the podcast apparently my microphone was messing up, so I had to go back and rerecord all the parts where I was talking. As a result, it's a little late but the music in this episode makes it worth the wait. This month's podcast opens with what is, in my opinion, song of the year so far, "Highway 42" by Grayson Capps , and just keeps crushing from there on out. It features Matt Woods , The Only [...]

Photo of Saydi by me... Hello again & a happy friday to ya! For today's mixtape, we are going to do something a wee-bit different. Instead of bring you something new, I wanted to bring back something from last year. You see, in a few short tiny little days, my oldest bird is turning 18, a genuine, pasteurized, and certified adult. Nuts. I know it's a cliche to "awww, they grow up so fast!", but let me tell ya, my friends, they do. Seems like just yesterday she was that tiny little [...]

So, I've decided to do this facebook 30 Day Song Challenge ( you can see previous days here )thing and I figured I'd do it here on ninebullets. Feel free to contribute your thoughts in the comments section. So, without further ado: DAY 07: A SONG THAT REMINDS YOU OF A CERTAIN EVENT: This one is easy. When I turned 16 I was unleashed upon the world with a 1800 pound torpedo (car) and a license to man it. Well, as 16 year olds are prone [...]
Off the Femmes debut record. They were big in the early 80s then again in the 90s. But like some bands it had to come to an end and rumor has it they all hate each other now.
