The set was recorded, but the recording failed due to bad levels. I've finally gotten around to picking out my favorites from the batch and paired them down [...]
Melbournians should have heard of Virgo Four. Touring down here twice in the last few years to wide eyed acclaim, and with good reason. This track is hands down my fav, remastered from the old tapes for their recent collection release, 'Resurrection'. Can't beat those smooth keys. MP3: Virgo Four - Forever Yours LCO + Sindy was Pascal Gabriel and Sindy Finn, UK 902s house producers, and this track comes off, what discogs seems to tell me, their only release. Which I find hard to believe given the [...]

The Rush Hour team are putting Virgo Four's Resurrection album out again but this time round they are picking their top tracks and splitting them across 2 x vinyls. Chicago collectibles anyone?
After a fun night with Prins Thomas, Animals Dancing is back again, throwing another party tomorrow night at the Mercat with South Korean (now Berlin-based) Hunee , house producer and Systematic Musicology graduate (studying the psychology and sociology of music). Recently appearing on the brilliant Future Times 'Vibe 22 compilation (along with Alexis Le-Tan, Steve Summers, Steve Moore, & more), Hunee has also appeared on various imprints such as John Daly's Feel Music [as Hunch] (see last track posted here), Rush Hour, Internasjonal, Permanent Vacation + more. Hunee also runs a [...]

For those of you who are new to the site, this is a list of my favourite dance music from the last year. It's not exclusively remixes, and yes, you can argue you could dance to the songs in the Top Tracks list too. Out in the Streets - Africa HiTech The Look (Koreless remix) - Jacques Greene Surph - Rustie Sketch - Synkro Sicko Cell - Joy Orbison Rolling In The Deep (Jamie xx Shuffle) [...]

Artwork by Dalila Couto Finally, our top remixes of 2011. Just like the originals, our followers have chosen their favourites. Some of them really surprised me. This is best idea we could possibly have. It's the easiest way to find new music and it's also an interesting way to see what people listen. The second part of this pack is going to be blogged during the day. Listen and share this sweet blog post.... [...]
Next up in the Best of 2011 series is from our very own SK707

I would like to welcome the 18 th Derogatory Playlist – a big number for the Derogatory one and only 2 away from number 20. It is not yet time to reflect retrospectively so let’s avoid hindsight and enjoy the deepness which lies ahead. The Playlist El Derog below is a segment of electronic tunes built for darken rooms, late nights, early mornings and most importantly a sound system which can deliver the tasty Wav files into your ear drums with pin point [...]

Jamie XX did an Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1 on Saturday. If you don't know these mixes tend to be longer, but they're generally quite good and with Jamie XX behind the mix, you can expect nothing but superb quality. The long list of songs are after the break below, stream it or download [...]

If you're in or able to get to London on August 6th, you don't want to miss this. We Fear Silence is bringing a Rush Hour Recordings label night to Cable and the line-up is suitably impressive. Legendary Chicago duo Virgo Four will be making their last UK appearance together (for the foreseeable future), and are supported Rick Wilhite, Tom Trago, Cosmin TRG and BNJMN. Pretty stellar, right? LWE is hooking you up with a pair of tickets for the event with our latest trivia contest. Simply tell us on what label Virgo Four made their debut in an email [...]

As another week draws to a close and the weekend bursts into full swing, the bankers undo their top buttons, the pr girls hike their skirts up a dash and let their hair fall around their shoulders, yes just like those commercials. When bar staff sigh silently to themselves at the impending stream of drunks they will be dealing with for the next 48 hours and those same drunks rejoice because they can now drink for said 48 hours and go see their mate the local bartender because they’ll get served quicker. We can sit back and feel slightly superior [...]
After a reissue of their essential Chicago House debut last year, Virgo Four mine the vaults of their rejected demos, with stunning results. Virgo Four first approached Larry Sherman of seminal Chicago House record label Trax in 1984 or 1985, as house music was beginning to take off. At the time, Sherman shrugged their demos off as titles in his catalogue were beginning to chart and he didn't want to take a risk a couple of unknowns who put in no time at the Warehouse or the Power Plant. The group returned several years later with a wealth...

Dark and almost early Bauhaus-esque is this reworking by Caribou. Caribou grabs Virgo Four's "It's a Crime" and takes it to a darker and goth like cavern of sound. Virgo Four - It’s A Crime (Caribou Remix) Background on Virgo Four's Limited Box Set: Resurrection Resurrection is the follow up to the reissue of Virgo (Four)'s S/T album, which was released by Rush Hour in 2010. This album is a collection of unreleased tracks that were produced over a 6 year period between 1984 and 1990 in various home studios around [...]

Photo by Carolin Walch Another post that is long overdue is a release I've been looking forward to a lot, Virgo Four 's 'It's a Crime'. The original was never released up until recently, when Rush Hour brought out 'Resurrection', a collection of remastered demos the Chicago duo recorded on 4-track tapes between 1984 and 1990. Next to that origina, the single also features remixes by Caribou and Hunee and while Hunee 's remix goes down the safe route of traditional Chicago vibes (mind you, that does not make it a bad one), [...]
