Rumors has it that young Liverpool producer Melé turned The Boiler Room upside down with his set this week. Here he is with a fierce remix of the second single "Sirens (Novocaine)" (out now on Deadly People) from London duo Visions of Trees. This is similar to a full on assault on the dancefloor with a pounding beat, a haunting house piano and on top of it all swarming synths that bounces off the vocals. That's it, summers over. If you live in the top part of the northern hemisphere prepare for 6 or 7 months of grim weather, seasonal affective disorder and nothing to look forward to except having no money after Christmas. Of course something you can look forward to is opening your email browser or in box each day to get the latest post on Breaking More Waves. We're beginning to ramp things up again following a quiet few weeks in late August and September whilst [...]
Sara Atalar and Joni Juden are Visions of Trees - a creepy, youthful duo from East London, whose romantic blend of R&B, 90s dance and goth results in a weird pop, guaranteed to mess with your head. Self-describing their music as "an alienation of urban life and the austerity of nature", for me it's a [...]

Due out 17 October, this is new from Visions of Trees , London purveyors of slightly hazy, velvet electro-pop and previous saviours of yours truly during my recent-ish break-up. The duo are now with a new label ( Deadly People ) and yet this doesn't feel like much of a departure from their previous output - a little more electro-based, perhaps, but not radically different. That previous output was slick and seductive, so this isn't a bad thing. But I did hope to be thrilled, wowed, shaken and stirred, and that hasn't happened. [...]

This London duo are about as hard to pigeon hole as we imagine it is to physically squeeze an actual pigeon into an actual hole. As you know, The Recommender usually deals in cutting edge music, so you may be wondering why they're appearing on here, seeing as they've been floating around since 2009. That's understandable, but in all honesty they're one of those bands that feels like they've established a foothold on the underground music scene without actually releasing much original work to date. One search on the Hype Machine and you'll see a reasonably [...]
