Kimbra - “Come Into My Head”
We have been following Kiwi's rising star, Kimbra, way before her breakout moment on Gotye's viral video "Someone That I Used to Know" and are very excited for her current tour here in the US which will bring her within earshot of our finely tuned "Kimbra" sensitized hearing. We are keen on seeing her finally perform her songs from her debut album "Vows" which was released earlier in the summer in America. Who's gonna join us next week at The Wonder Ballroom here? Psychoanalysis...artist in an asylum... possible cliches that are luckily overshadowed by Kimbra 's pure awesomesauce at bein' too darn catchy. Kimbra lent her voice to a certain megahit and is definitely capable of running solo on the pop track with her debut album "VOWS." Check her voice here (one of the coolest collabs/things she's ever done ever) and respect her range from that to "Come Into My Head." Enjoy the show.
VOWS have recently released their 3rd single '108', this is a departure from their earlier sounds with a slight dubstep influence on the track, but while still keeping the Indie sound that thyey've created for themselves. Dubstep, at least up until the last couple years, has been defined by it's sparseness. A slow, raw plodding beat, heavy but simplistic bass line and punctuated by the occasional echoing atmosperic stabs. But despite being a big fan of both dub and electronic music, to me it always sounded half-finished rather than well measured, and that 98% of it lacked of any kind discernable soul .
