Monday 5/24/10 [Pick of the Night] Noodles / Boyz Skule @ Bootleg ($10) – Noodles is a Japanese girl group. I saw them at Spaceland a few years ago and had a lot of fun. [Recommended] Sweethead / Alain Johannes / Mini Mansions @ Spaceland (Free) –Lots of rumors about special guests. The LA Times said Eagles of Death Metal was playing, but then their management said they weren't? So who knows lots of the EODM and TQOTSA family will be in the house. Sweethead features Van Leeuwen (guitar in [...]

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News "Please don't break up," yelled an audience member at Voxtrot 's final Chicago appearance at Lincoln Hall Friday night. Last month, Austin quintet Voxtrot announced they were disbanding after one final tour called ' Goodbye Cruel World... ' Spanning only five years, one self-titled full-length and a slew of EPs and singles, Voxtrot generated a short but sweet discography. They opened with the melodic 'Introduction' from their 2007 full-length and followed it with a pair of songs from [...]

And why not? This might be the best idea yet :) I kind of missed the recap - especially since I've been showcasing really nice songs as of late. I'm not posting the songs here though, too much effort - so it'd be best to visit the site everyday if you want a link for a download (if you don't know it yet, yer lyric of the day songs up top on the right side there can be downloaded by a simple right-click and Save As). If you missed hearing the song though, our dear old Facebook page [...]

I don't love you migraines. Sorry to disappoint, but this post won't have any new music (but I did manage to update the lyric of the day). It'll only contain a snippet of explanation on the absence of posts for the past few days - which can be attributed to my debilitative migraine. Since almost passing out at a bathroom stall in The Bay at downtown Vancouver a few years back (and luckily being saved by a corageous Jones New York employee named Patricia) - I have taken my migraine attacks seriously and have been taking frequent [...]

It may have taken seven whole days, but we've finally reached our goal. We made it though the weekly craze without school crushing our soul. And now it's Sunday (our day of lazy), and we are ready to rest. We look outside, it's grey and hazy: snow in May must be a jest! Truthfully, we don't much care, we've trucked through this befores. But it is quite the irritating affair so we'd rather stay indoors. But through the snow and slush (some call it the icy abyss) make sure you are ready to rush, and give your Mom a kiss. [...]

Jamie and I are graduating College in two weeks. So we've been tying up loose ends, making friends with enemies, drinking, stressing, happy-ing, and blogging! (Jon has been, well, doing his usual Jon stuff. He's still got some college life ahead of him.) Oh, and Happy Mother's Day! ...And with that, the week in review: Monday: Knox Road Radio show + playlist for 5.2.10 [MP3] Rio Blanco: "Wild Doves" Tuesday: [Review] The Hold Steady gives us a solid [...]
We love our Moms. We love excuses for creating playlist mixes. We love sharing them with you. We love that we're on the cusp of summer. "First-Time Mother's Joy (Flying)" - Mercury Rev from The Secret Migration (2005) "Treat Me Like Your Mother" - The Dead Weather from Horehound (2009) "Mother" - Pink Floyd from The Wall (1979) "Mother's [...] Related posts:Mother's Day Playlist: Iron & Wine, The Kinks,... International Waters From: Austin, Texas, United States International Waters are a jangly indie-pop outfit from Austin, Texas led by Voxtrot's Mitch Calvert. They're old school indie, like a faded postcard from another era that reminds you of an old friend that you've lost touch with. Well it's time to get reacquainted with their recently completed 10" EP, the Felt like 'It [...]
Steady your ears. Good things come from Texas. Well, I can at least think of a couple off hand. One would be indie rock band Voxtrot. The Start of Something is something I've definitely been, am and will continue to be; all at once reminded lyric by lyric. A vintage [...]

After their self-titled LP failed to garner the applause of the group's earlier EPs, and front-man Ramesh Srivastava picked-up and moved from hometown Austin to Berlin, it was easy to see that Voxtrot was not only taking time off, but possibly going on the inevitable hiatus. And so it is, around three years after Voxtrot hit, the band is finished. Like many fans that have enjoyed everything this band has done, I am saddened by their departure, but hopeful in the opportunity to hear where the various members go next. [...]

Austin, Texas. Indie-pop group Voxtrot announced last April 21 that the group was finally breaking up after 7 years in the business. I learned of this group back in 2006 and found some appeal to these two songs. I thought I'd pay homage to them. I frequently clean out my iPod and load it up again with fresh stuff but these two have always been constant. The Start Of Something - Voxtrot Soft & Warm - Voxtrot

Buffetibre is, without a doubt, one of the funnest places on the interweb. There's always some weirdo indie band covering some even weirder esoteric 1980s tune, and then out of nowhere you'll find some (relatively) known artist or a remix that blows your mind. Nuggets, people. It's a place to pan for gold. You'll find all kinds of stones-some rocks, some quartz, and some pure gold. But their latest 180-song cover project, Peace , done with Amnesty International, is finally out. They've been talking about it-and working on it-for 2 years. And it was worth the wait. [...]
Not to over-post today, but I needed to get this last little bit in there. Voxtrot, really fantastic band, is no more. They will be playing a small seven show goodbye tour in May - June. You can read the really genuine and heartfelt letter on the Voxtrot website . I especially liked this: For me, the most important thing in life is leaving behind something beautiful, something that finds its way into the lives of strangers, and forever alters them in a positive manner. Sometimes, being able to do this means that you have [...]

Today, I accidently banged my leg against a filing cabinet leaving a large bluish bruise. Today, I found out an entire part of my email account had been lost due to a server error. Today, I had to beg a local concert hall to reinstate $200 tickets that my sister had lost. No biggie. It's not such a bad day. Then I find out Voxtrot broke up. WTF?! FML! Voxtrot is/was one of my favourite bands of the last few years. I have played their songs so many [...]
It's been a long time since we've heard from Voxtrot. Ever since I heard them a few years ago through the single "The Start of Something" during my indie pop years I was salivating at the mouth. The song was pop goodness. Then two EPs afterwards and their self-titled full-length came out. A few great [...]
Alright, quickly now, these were assembled with you in mind (yes, you).... 1- Peter Wolf Crier is not former J. Geils Band frontman Peter Wolf's new emo band. Sorry (although he does have a new record out). Instead, it's the duo out of Minneapolis made up of Peter Pisano and Brian Moen. Their debut out soon on Jagjaguwar is called Inter-Be . ► Peter Wolf Crier- "Hard as Nails" 2- South Africa's BLK JKS follow up the debut full-length they put out last year with a new EP out [...]
