For someone who told Pitchfork they don't feel like a musician just yet, Willis Earl Beal does a fine job of conveying emotions through soulful vocals and incredibly relatable lyrics just like one would expect a (good) musician to do. In his video for "Evening's Kiss," which channels the piercing acoustic style of Elliott Smith, we see an melancholic Beal walk through what seems like a pretty typical day. The video, which Beal illustrated, tugs at the heart strings and reminds of "Waking Life." Beal's debut Acousmatic Sorcery is out [...]

El Guincho - "Bombay" (NSFW) Directed by Nicolás Méndez. A NSFW, nonsensical video featuring Spanish bewbs. You're welcome. Their debut album "Pop Negro" is out now on Young Turks Records. Jonny - "Candyfloss" Directed by Ryan Owen. New project from Scottish/Welsh music old schoolers Norman Blake (Teenage Fanclub) and Euros Childs (Gorky's Zygotic Mynci). Their self-titled debut comes out January 31st on Alsatian [...]
The 2010 Music Alliance Pact flashback Every month throughout 2010 I've had the pleasure of being able to represent Denmark in the awesome blog network Music Alliance Pact (MAP), now featuring 36 blogs from 36 countries around the globe who have joined forced to bring people a free taste of what's going on musically in their respective nations on the 15 of every month. It's the gift that keeps on giving, and for this year-end retrospect I thought I'd share the 12 [...]
I love Waking Life more and more with every time I watch it. There is no denying that it is a very heavy movie to get through, but I think that is why I love it so much. The food for thought it piles onto your plate can often be too much to swallow in one sitting, but the more you come back to the table, the easier it becomes to unhinge your jaw (like Liz Lemon shotgunning a pizza). Watching it feels like having your brain reprogrammed; I think I'll have to schedule another appointment in [...]

This scene is still one of my favourites.
WQHS DJs Tanya and Elliot had the chance to sit down with Benjamin Curtis and Alejandra Deheza of School of Seven Bells before their October 22nd performance at Johnny Brenda's in Philadelphia. Unassuming and willing to tell all, Alley and Ben chatted with us about 'living music', lucid dreaming, vampires, and maintaining their live energy following Claudia Deheza's departure from the band. SVIIB's most recent album, Disconnect from Desire, adds layers of synthesizer-infused harmonic texture to the dreamy electro-pop found in their debut Alpinisms, [...]

Today is up and comer day usually, but instead of me picking one band that is maybe, possibly, kinda sorta rising to the top, and giving you one of their songs to listen to, I have decided to share with you this month's edition of the Music Alliance Pact. It is a couple days late in terms of the blog world, but now that I have got a chance to listen to most of these songs, I realized almost all of these songs would make a swell addition to your music collection. In particular I would recommend [...]

We're a few days late with this month's Music Alliance Pact, but it should be well worth the wait. Music Alliance Pact (MAP) is a collaboration between 33 blogs from all over the world, and every month, each of us present a new band from our country. All presentations are put together in this huge blogpost, and presented on the same day in all the MAP blogs. Massive promotion for the bands! This month, our Norwegian MAP-band is a band I'm especially excited about, KooKooo Kitchen from Oslo. I hope you enjoy their music [...]

Suve selgroog on murtud! Käes on aeg kesksuviseks MAPiks. Head isu. EESTI : Popop Opium Flirt - Parade In Chimes Opium Flirt on tegutsenud juba aastast 2004 – andnud kontserte, kirjutanud ja salvestanud muusikat. „Parade In Chimes" on võetud nende uuelt albumilt „DejaVoodoo". [...]

Korean post-rock, South American electronica, Beijing trip-hop, the Gallic Nirvana, Scandinavian indie, Greek disco, Romanian soundtrack material, the Netherlands' answer to Camera Obscura, Singaporean country-rock, an Afrikaans rapper who fancies himself as the new Eminem and a German band called Herpes... it can only mean the next instalment of the Music Alliance Pact, which offers you the best music from around the planet for free when the date strikes 15th. I've picked Glasgow-based trio LIGHTGUIDES to represent Scotland this month and you'll know why when you get your ears around [...]

ARGENTINA : Zonaindie The Kyoto Connection - H.E.A.T. The eighties are back! At least, that's what we felt after listening to No Headphones Required, the cc-licensed brand new album by The Kyoto Connection. This amazing band delivers sweet electronic music mixed with Japanese juice and Flashdance-like synth sounds. If you like it, you can download the whole record from their website. AUSTRALIA : Who The [...]

Am ascultat al treilea album 'Who I Am and What I Want' pe care il puteti descarca gratuit de aici . In mare masura tot albumul e o posibila coloana sonora, [...]
