The self-titled affair was produced by Chris Coady (Grizzly Bear, TV On the Radio, !!!) at Dreamland Recording Studios – a converted church built in 1896 in Woodstock, New York. The Water are a 2-piece, post-rock duo out of Baltimore, MD. Their sound is a straight up guitar/drum/keyboard magical journey. Explosions In The Sky really got me hooked on the whole post-rock movement and The Water bring the same musically passion to their music. The only difference is that there are only two guys, Dan Cohan (drums, guitars), and James Klink (guitar, keyboards) that are beating out the sounds. The Bicep boys had a fantastic 2011, picking up rather reputable guest DJ spots across the globe and releasing on some of the better labels in the world. They are always a surefire success for me, nailing the vintage house sound with a slightly fresh take on both production and dance floor analysis. Their tracks have always worked a treat for me and I don't think this techno inspired remix for Blondes is going to be any different. MOKB has followed Van Pierszalowski's musical projects from Port O'Brien all the way to his most recent work under the name of Waters . His early 90s influenced rock hit just right spot in year where more focus in the indie world was placed on electronica, producers, and new wave tinged dance rock. When you go to your first concert, you have chills the entire time. The more and more shows you go to, the less that seems to happen. Not that the quality of music or performance has decreased, just that when music and work become so closely interwoven it becomes hard to step back and just let a song move you. But, when WATERS hit the first chorus of "Mickey Mantle" I had the chills. I remember trying to express to someone how beautiful I thought that performance was, and I couldn't…I couldn't explain it. 2011 - irgendwie ein komisches Jahr. Zumindest musikalisch gesehen. Denn eigentlich müssten hier die Hundreds stehen, das wunderbare Berliner Elektropop-Duo, das mich diese zwölf Monate so verzaubert hat. Doch lediglich das europaweite Releasedatum des selbstbetitelten Debutalbums fällt in die vergangenen zwölf Monate – in Deutschland erschien "Hundreds" nämlich schon 2010. Schade. Auf der Suche nach weiteren feinen Nullelfer-Sachen, merke ich, dass so eine Bandfixierung eh nicht gut tut. Denn der Rest fällt etwas hinten runter.
