It's Fulmar here with an update in AFIN's continuing series that attempts beachcomb the endless untidy sands known as FREE MUSIC ON THE INTERNET, sorting the pretty shells from the rotten seaweed to create the plaster-of-paris monstrosity that is YOUR LISTENING PLEASURE. This was to be a girl/boy duo special, although unfortunately only the first two apply... The Sky Drops (indie/rock/ shoegaze - US) Delaware based duo offering some of the most listenable contemporary shoegaze I've heard in a while. The acknowledged My Bloody [...]

Tis the season, and tis time to move house for me, the mrs. and the li'l one. That means we have a lot of packing to do, and not much time to blog. Plus: I'm not sure when, or if my internetconnection will work properly in the new Guuzbourg HQ. So, to get you and your loved ones through Christmas, here are 8 carols that were especially recorded for this blog. Never released before, all brand-spanking new (okay, the Watoo Watoo song's an old one). Merci to all visitors and contributors, we're back after X-mas. Then I will post the [...]

Their songs have picked up a relaxed state of sophistication, like they've been listening to a lot of cocktail jazz and bossa nova, fancy cocktails in hand, letting the vibe seep into their songs.

" Felt is still an obsession but Serge Gainsbourg also is one. I also discovered a lot of new music in the last few years thanks to the internet, so bossa beats or jazz chords sometimes subconsciously appear when I write a new song", says Michaël on Watoo Watoo's MySpace . Michaël and his wife Pascale form Watoo Watoo , and it is about time they made an appearance on Filles Sourires. The duo makes music for about ten years, they started off as an indiepopband but, as the quote shows, shifted to jazz, bossa and gentle [...]
THIS WEEK'S FINDS June 10-16 "Speech Marks" - God Love You For a Liar A continually engaging, skillfully constructed song from an unknown, unsigned UK band. Nice chords, indecipherable time twists, hardy melodies, intriguing lyrics, multiple hooks--"Speech Marks" packs it all into four and a half minutes, while adding a bit of goofy 10cc-like pop drama for good measure (I'm referring to the "phone conversation" segment, beginning at 2:26; and don't miss the answer given to "Do you believe in God?"). Vocalist Gareth Moss has a pliable tenor that suits the shifty [...]

Felt is still an obsession but Serge Gainsbourg also is one. That quote from Michael of French pop group Watoo Watoo pretty much sums up the progression of his band. Up to this point Watoo Watoo were a somewhat nondescript french indie pop band. Their albums were pleasant, a bit low-fi with Pascale's voice always too slight in the mix. Their records never really made an impression on me. That is certainly not the case with their new record. It's got a nice warm sound with a jazzy feel [...]
I first got into the French indie pop band Watoo Watoo from the compilation album "Snowstorm: A Tribute to Galaxie 500." On that album Watoo Watoo did an absolutely sweet cover of Galaxie 500's "When Will You Come Home" and since then I have been a big fan of the band. Watoo Wattoo will release [...]
Pascale and Michaël are Watoo Watoo, a wonderful pop project from Bordeaux, France. They are also husband and wife, and have been making songs together for 10 years now. Michaël makes the music, plays the instruments and creates the cover-artwork, and Pascale adds the sweet vocals when she has the time. According to their label, Letterbox records (same label as Eardrums-favourites California
Letterbox Records have released two more free download singles as tasters for forthcoming and current album releases. The first is by the French band Watoo Watoo and is a track called Perdu . It's taken from their forthcoming La Fruite album. The second release is by the Hackney based (no bias here) Morning Bride and is called Replica . It's the second free download single taken from their recent Lee Valley Delta Blues album. Watoo Watoo - Perdu Morning Bride [...]
