Maybe the perfect antidote to the sluggish grey monday we're facing in London. This chirpy indie pop disco house fest should pick you up out of the gutter as Hot Coins remixes Rob Basejam and Wave Machines. 300 vinyl are getting pressed up for these previously un-vinyled remixes... look out for their subtle white labels above... Following the previous post about the Brooklyn band Friends , we're following it up with a new band that are just as ignorant of SEO, but equally as tidy when it comes to writing some very special pop music. They're in the process of completing their début album, Plastic Soul , so the first few blogs are now being introduced to them to begin the initial campaign for what looks to be a very, very exciting prospect. Leisure are a trio from Boston who deliver the kind of confident, alluring lounge pop music that used [...]

It's time for our annual Summer Edition of Commercial Watch , where I again highlight some of the songs that those indie-saavy marketing folks are harvesting for mass consumption. Since I realize most of you are the Hulu / DVR / next-day-on-youtube type, you've probably been blissfully unaware of the beer, car, and shoe ads that have been lighting up TV screens, so I've dug up some of the best ones for you. Lucky for you, the past few months have seen a surplus in indie music in commercials so there's quite a bit more ads then here I [...]

A strange one, this. Classified, I suppose, as a one-day festival, Live from Jodrell Bank (or, to give it its other name, Transmission_001) is a shiny new annual event - or that's the plan, at least - to showcase some of the world's best bands under the shadow of the Lovell telescope, the world's third largest radio telescope. For the first ever Transmission, the organisers pulled out all the stops - some terrific acts were on display, both new and old, all universally in awe of the immense dish above them, and all perfectly fitting (be it coincidentally or purposefully) [...]

I think I'm kinda late to the party here, but this one's been on heavy rotation lately, taken from their '09 release Wave If You're Really There . MP3: Wave Machines - Keep The Lights On

We are often wary of band names with too much punctuation. The frustration perhaps peaked at Chk Chk Chk (or !!!) so in fairness these unnecessary additions to bands' monikers have been appearing long before Look, Stranger! Alongside this blog we also contribute to The Brighton Source Magazine and our editor recently emailed everyone stating that " Exclamation marks are straight out banned from now on. You should be able to express excitement without them ". We couldn't agree more, but when it comes to this new four piece from London we're tempted to re-examine our [...]
Where am I? I've been rockin' for a good 27 hours now, was in the studio with the Oos & Ahhs all day yesterday, pulled an all nighter to finish curating the music for a restaurant and then realized this morning I have to hook you up with this months mixtape - Go, go, go... Life in the fast lane Surely make you lose your mind Life in the fast lane, everything all the time..." - The Eagles This months [...]

Wait no more! Here's the latest The Shoes video thanks to the realization by We Are From LA / Caviar / Lumini / G.U.M. Watch the interactive version on coveryoureyes.fr . The clip also features Wave Machines .

I'm in such good spirits today. !!! chk chk chk played an amazing set yesterday in Costa Mesa. I'm going to an awesome! (ahem) event to film (some amazing artists) to share with all of you! (hooray!) I'm keeping 'the who' secret as of now. Anyways I wanted to give you at least a couple groovy tunes to get you through the weekend. Yep. So. This blog never meant to be bigger than just sharing music with friends, mostly Dermott...

Sometimes a band becomes successful and what follows is a plethora of copyists that spill out from it's edges, all sounding like the genetic descendants of the original act. In days gone by it would have quickly become a scene, NME Magazine would have wet their underwear with over-excitement and kids would be rushing to join the scene. Sadly, in 2011 we no longer seem to see this same tribal adoption, as the music-loving public are more happy to skip between genres never allowing one band, or one set of similar bands, to dominate. This leaves music journalism [...]

An oldie but a goodie… Wave Machines - "Keep the Lights On" — Basil

These are the tunes that make it worth it to trudge through your inbox looking for that one song that's pretty awesome in 100 emails, but when you find it, you usually know within the first 5 seconds. And such was the case with "Relocate" by KAUF , LA via Florida via LA resident Ronald Kaufman. In fact, if someone were to ask me to make a mixtape that sums up this website, I can promise you that a song in this style would most certainly make the cut. It's got the haze, the synth, and [...]
I've seen a few of these occur naturally after a storm at the beach, but never this big and started by hand. That's awesome. -daNk Share this on Facebook Tweet This! Stumble upon something good? Share it on StumbleUpon Digg this! [...]
It would be easy to construct a case for Liverpool having gone through a musical revolution in the past few years, sort of like the Egyptian revolution, just with fewer camel charges and more burnt down venues. (In fact, so easy would it be to make a case that that's exactly what Getintothis did, and very, very well, too) Mere years ago young & old people from the city gifted with discerning music taste floated the city hoping for the announcement of gigs from the bands of the day who's tours seemed to travel the entire country, whilst [...]
The UK's coolest boutique urban festival, Liverpool Sound City, has just announced its first wave of acts performing over May 19 th -21 st across the city's most iconic venues. Just announced acts include Cast , Black Lips , The Whip , Wave Machines , Spank Rock , Willy Mason and Sound of Guns . With label parties already confirmed from Young Turks, Bella Union, Deltasonic and Moshi Moshi, featuring guests Jamie XX , SBTRKT and Teeth this is definitely not one to be missed! [...]

The Brooklyn duo Home Video are Collin Ruffino and David Gross, originally from New Orleans. These guys aren't any greenhorns, they've been around as Home Video since 2003 and known each other since 1997. They released the album "The Automatic Process" back in November, and it's a nice piece of fine tracks. One of the best albums within that genre I suppose. In their sound you can hear a lot of Radiohead, a pinch of Faunts and some James Yuill. Not a bad combination of acts and on top of that they are creating things of [...]

I don't really try to hide the fact that I really like remixes. In fact, I'd say the majority of the stuff we post here are remixes (despite the often lengthy names that become a bear to type out time after time). But it makes sense really, most of them are unofficial and/or sent to us, so they're typically 100% safe to post, and I like the way that these producers can take an existing song and visualize it as something completely different in their heads. I like all kinds of remixes, but I find myself more [...]
